Based on the rumor Friedman put out.
Here's a breakdown for those wondering where the Cats players stand and what we think of them.

Untouchable: If Dale Tallon's career with Panthers outlasts these guys, I hope they move to Quebec because I will turn in my fan card and start actively rooting against this franchise.
  • Huberdeau: 5.9m x 3y...Elite winger
  • Barkov: 5.9m x 2y...Franchise center
  • Ekblad: 7.5m x 5y...Low end 1D

Keep: These guys are part of the solution, not the problem.
  • Hoffman: UFA...1st line winger
  • Acciari: 1.6m x 2y...bottom 6 center
  • Pysyk: UFA...great bottom 6 winger
  • Weegar: RFA...top 4 defenseman
  • Stillman: 700k x 1y...bottom 4 defenseman

Maybe Move: These guys aren't a problem, but if you can shake it up, go ahead
  • Vatrano: 2.5m x 2y...hitting and sniping middle 6 wing
  • Connolly: 3.5m x 3y...2nd line scoring wing
  • Stralman: 5.5m x 2y...defensive 4D
  • Matheson: 4.9m x 6y...offensive middle pair D (this is controversial bc I don't think Matheson is nearly as a big of a problem as not having somebody decent he can play with to maximize his skillset)
  • Borgstrom: RFA...center prospect. highly skilled, apparently has been playing a shutdown center's role in the minors this year

Get rid of: These players do more harm than good and deserve to be the shake-up
  • Dadonov: UFA...1st line winger, but lazy
  • Haula: UFA...Middle 6 center? I guess? I don't even notice him on the ice
  • Yandle: 6.3m x 3y...bottom 4 defenseman and PP specialist
  • Bobrovsky: 10m x 6y...c'mon guys pls

If you're wondering why the list doesn't make it seem like a fire sale, it's because neither a rebuild, nor even a retool is necessary. Get rid of Dale Tallon and his stupid, aimless way of managing this team.

To Vancouver:

Ekblad
Borgstrom
(minor/moderate plus without large cap hit)

To Florida:

Boeser
Myers
(Gaudette)

This is what you think of them though. You have no idea who management values or who they would entertain moving so I'm not sure why you're using the term we.

I just hope for Barkov that he would get to a real contender, make some team it, as he seems to waiste his career.

One of the best center there is. Not a captain material as he is to silent to it. But kid can play. Damn he can play.

Isnt that how every single trade thread on here works?

On Topic: No one should be untouchable. Blow the entire team up. Fire Tallon. Trade guys like Barkov and Huberdeau for solid future picks/prospects. Figure out a way to get rid of Bobrovsky.

so basically, friedman said that florida is willing to move core players which means everyone is available. there are no untouchable players.

I take no joy in observing FL is having such probs.

I concur w/this post to the pt that tinkering begets tinkering results.
Once in a while, yeah, you get lucky.\
Once in a while, you deal Spooner for Strome and Strome wakes up/arrives.
Once in a while.
That is the exception to the rule.

Of course, no one is saying stick with what doesn't work.
Just expect if you are dealing Coke all by itself, you may wind up w/Pepsi.
And in the given situation, Pepsi, may be a welcomed incremental profit.

But if you want champagne it will cost you.
Barkov is the primo jewel here and as a franchise 1C he should be.
The right combo of known assets and futures could expedite your departure from FL's current woes, at least up to a point; and if enough of those futures hit, could even be profitable.

Will try to post later on a good offer for Barkov to NYR.

Your best bet is to just live with the Bob deal; whether or not someone is willing to pay a guy that much to netmind, no one is going to apply that high a % of salary roster cap to a single position unless it is McDavid, and certainly not for a goalie.
The one exception might be Seattle, except Bob has NMC, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Whether or not Hubie or other top player is retained is based on what is offered and if it is acceptable enough overpay. And of course, currency is a consideration, on what can be offered, and what FL can accept.

I'll get back to you on Barkov.

It’s clear ownership’s mandate is to cut costs and salary first and foremost.

After watching the panthers horror show for 25+ years, it’s obvious to me what’s going to happen - they’ll trade at least 1 of their big 3 of Barkov, Hubs or Ekblad - and attach a large/bloated contract they want to get out of paying. That will seriously impact the trade return. Hubs will be the first to go, and possibly Ekblad next. They’ll try and hold onto Barkov, but it’ll become clear when they’re bottom 5 next season that they have no choice but to trade him while they can.

Barkov is probably the only untouchable player at this point.

IF Frideman's speculation of everyone available (for the right price) and I'm Colorado I start throwing players, prospects and picks at Florida for players.

To Colorado:
Huberdeau

To Florida:
Newhook
Jost
Zadorov
2020 first
2021 first

Seems like no one should be untouchable if you’re shaking up your core, given that the core is Barkov, Huberdeau, Ekblad, and Dadonov.

Having said that, it would be a massive mistake to move Barkov or Ekblad. Huberdeau seems the most likely and he would bring back a boat load too.

Colorado has the pieces, I’m betting he lands there in the summer. Something around Byram

I honestly wonder how much stock GM's put into performance in playoffs and into the playoffs, because Huby last year IIRC came out and made a big fuss about never making the playoffs there in his 7 years or something, but was a non factor into the race.

This year once again he has vanished down the stretch. So has Barkov to an extent, but I think they see his value a lot more. I just wonder with players like Gaudreau and Huby if GM's really value them as high as we do on here when they statistically don't perform when it counts.

Or do they think a change of scenery would make them perform?

How would FLA management view Stralman? If they're making major shifts/ looking to cut money would he be available in a soft deal and/or retained?

Absolutely awful for the Panthers. You could add anyone on the Canucks roster besides Hughes/Pettersson and the Panathers still laugh Eklblad>>>Boeser. Imagine what the leafs would pay for him.

Would Barkov for Laine get the conversation started?

No. They already have scoring wingers (though I'd get rid of Dadanov over Hoffman) and Tippett in the system. The only thing Florida needs is defense and a new GM who's serious on filling that major gap.

They score so much but give up so much goals. Ekblad is the only one holding the fort back there in the top 4 and he needs support. Blast Yandle into the sun (or trade him to a desperate team). Bobrovsky is having a bad year and isn't living up to his contract, but he's 31 and plenty of time to bounce back. This season is a lost cause anyway.
