Wild speculation that the Flames will 'coerce' Milan Lucic into retirement in the summer if he has another bad season, thereby erasing his $5.25 M cap hit from the books. Flames will gladly take the 3rd round pick and valuable cap space for a player who was essentially one of the worst to don the Flaming 'C'.

There shouldn't be much resistance from the Lucic camp either. Speculation is, if he has another poor season, he probably won't want to continue playing hockey either.

Brad Treliving you sneaky bastard. :naughty:

Yeah sure thing.

People just willfully hand over millions of dollars for no reason all the time.

And it's not like the NHLPA would just gladly be ok with that.

Wild speculation as in a single fan in his basement? Dude isn't giving up that much money to do the flames a favor.

Flames made a bad trade and stuck with him.

I'm sure he won't have to think twice about walking away from millions. That's chump change.

Why would Lucic just willing give up so much money?

This isn't a Luongo case where the player already made a ton and had a small amount left on the end of his deal Lucic would be giving up a ton of money to help out a team that he has little or no connection to.

Who is speculating about this by the way? I mean, other than Flames fans who want it to happen.

You guys are likely stuck with him. Best of luck.
