Last year this would have been stupid. Then he had an awful year and was the extra forward at key times in the season. Can still probably carve out a niche as a PK specialist on a cheap deal.

Guy had an awful year.

Now Bennett, Dube, Ryan, Lucic, and Mangiapane are squarely above him on the depth chart.

How fair is it to compare Janowski and Riley Sheahan? Because Janowski and Sheahan followed a pretty similar path from ages 23-25, including the horrible season, so I think a team could at least get a decent 3C out of Jankowski next year.

I remember when Jay Feaster said that when it was all said and down Jankowski would turn out to be the best player that came out of the 2012 draft.

Turned out to be a poor draft year, but his hot take still looks bad.

Still remember watching that draft and thinking to myself, “who the f*** is that guy?”

Edit: Using mobile and uploading images equals the beginning of the post lol

I'm gonna guess that Jankowski and Benning will cross path in Red Deer on friday.

Jankowski is such a fricken weird player. He's far more likely to contribute points on the PK than at 5v5.

He needs a change of scenery something fierce, but there's also something in his head holding him back too. He should in theory still have an ok chance of being a solid middle 3 c... but the dude has to stop deferring the puck to someone else and actually try to shoot on net as well.

Too soft and too slow. Think all the weight he put on after his rookie year really hindered his skating.

Has some good hands for his size, PKs well mostly because of his reach, and excels at dumping it in and going for a change. Would not give this player more than 1.5

Jankowski's confidence was destroyed playing under Bill Peters. They kept playing him with a revolving door of slugs. When he did enjoy success in the previous year he played with Mangiapane and Hathaway. With the emergence of Bennett as 3C, young Gawdin being groomed for 4C and the Flames refusal to move Ryan, Janks really doesn't have a spot on this team. Or does he? I think the Flames will re-sign him at a reasonalbe cap hit and have him play 4LW. This way they can also use him on the PK where he has been very good.
