Looks like we need to #FreeZachBoychuk from the offensive black hole of McClement and Dwyer tonight, as the lines are as follows:

Skinner-Staal-Semin
Gerbe-Nash-Lindholm
Terry-Rask-Tlusty
Boychuk-McClement-Dwyer

Sekera-Faulk
Harrison-Gleason*
Liles*-Hainsey

Ward

*If neither player plays today, insert Michal Jordan instead

-Bellemore apparently has an upper body injury, so we should reasonably expect our #FancyStat for Stupid Penalties/60 to go down.

Flames lines (from their GDT, which is amazing. Check it out. Seriously.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Jones
Glencross-Granlund-Hudler
Baertschi-Reinhart-Byron
Bollig-Bouma-Jooris

Giordano-Brodie
Russell-Wideman
Smid-Engelland

I hope the loss to Washington doesn't spiral into another losing streak. They've done good so far this month, but there's still some work to be done to make up for October.

If we win tonight, I'm creating a stanley cup contenders discussion thread.

Why don't we have a food thread? Considering we have an alcohol thread...

Im behind. What happened to Murphy? Suck o meter?

Well, in 3 games with Charlotte he has an assist and is a -5, but no one has good stats for them right now. Jordan has 2 assists and is a -6 in 6 games. Still, Murphy has done fairly well vs. easy competition in the NHL. Not sure Jordan is ever more than an 8-9 guy at best.

Who cares about Boychuk geez

McClement and Dwyer are getting the Malhotra treatment this year. Heavy defensive zone starts with tough-ish competition. Plus, they are offensive black holes. Of all the players to put there, Boychuk might be the worst.

I may be the only one, but about the only issue I've had with Pastor Bill and his lines is his insistence on keeping Sekera/Faulk together. The more Faulk develops, I think he's becoming a right-handed Sekera. I think they should be split up so we have an elite puck-handler on each of the top two pairings. Granted, if forces one of our grenade-handlers onto the "top" pairing, but if you think of them as 2A and 2B, that isn't even all that painful.

2A Hainsey/Faulk (half the game)
2B Sekera/Gleason (other half)
Harrison/Liles/Murphy/Bellemore/Jordan (as little as possible)

I'd love to see Murphy really step into a role here even if it's just a PP specialist... if he doesn't though I think we still have one more season that he'd fetch a halfway decent return in a trade. That window is starting to close though

I've always seen Murphy as a player who has the tools but is very raw. his own dedication I have no knowledge of, but seems to need to be well coached and hasn't received that yet....?

tbh, I haven't really noticed Boychuk one way or the other.

I've never been sold on Murphy either but he was the only defenseman playing worth a damn while he was up here.

Sending him down was dumb.

Murphy was always a boom or bust prospect, depending on how well his game translated to the NHL. Turns out, it didn't. The game got faster from Juniors to the NHL and his few assets (mainly his speed and his slapshot) were effectively nullified.

He still showed flashes of being able to carry the puck up the ice with ease, but not enough to be anything more than a lesser MAB
