From a random Bleacher Report article:

"In the MLB, each team must have one representative in the All-Star game. However, the NHL has found a way around that by including rookies in the skills challenge and counting those players as representatives for their teams."
They started with with the rookie game I think. When in the past every team had to be represented even after injuries. Every team is only represented as an olive branch, its something they choose to do but do not have to.

definitely Gio, and I really wanna see Brodie their too, most of the NHL.com analysts have both on their picks. I would LOOOVE to see Gaudreau on there, but if any rookie is gonna be at the all star game it'll be Filip Forsberg, but Gaudreau still has a chance if he can rack up some serious points in the next few months
