Hope Pelletier enjoys eating popcorn until April
I was actually very surprised he wasn't out there or at the end of the game. He only played a min in the 3rd, literally the perfect amount of u have to dress him...This PP could really use a Looch.
Huberdeau is better the last couple games once back on the left side. Not so much this game but got an apple anyway to help with the confidence. Kadri..... Idk man, he's hockey IQ just seems real lowOn a less than positive note. Huberdeau and Kadri both have 4 points in 8 games this month. Will probably need their help for this playoff push and hopefully it comes soon..
Kadri's struggling, but Huberdeau's 4 points all came in the last 3 games, which in a massive coincidence coincide with him being moved back to left wingOn a less than positive note. Its OK. He says he will win the Stanley cup.Hope Pelletier enjoys eating popcorn until April
I can't wait for someone out there to praise Sutter's genius on this one. The Backs and Lindholm lines carried the load.Winning 7-2 and everyone in the bottom 6 beside kadri and dube is a minus lol. Glad I barely saw lucic in the 3rd tho
Haven't watched every flames game but it seems like he peaked in the first few games this season.Huberdeau is better the last couple games once back on the left side. Not so much this game but got an apple anyway to help with the confidence. Kadri..... Idk man, he's hockey IQ just seems real low
Flames opener?Alright. Now, Are there any more stupid curses out there for our team? We won the first game of the year this season, we can win in Anaheim and we can win in Vegas. Is that it? Sure hope so. Hate those damn bad streaks we've suffered through for ages.
I thought ruzickas line had some good shifts too. Kadri line is just the biggest oof I've ever seen, lewis and lucic are bad but kadri ain't helping eitherI can't wait for someone out there to praise Sutter's genius on this one. The Backs and Lindholm lines carried the load.
Yea he peaked after the 5-1 start. He just puckhogs all the time and is a horrible passer. Just seem like a low IQ player, and can't stay on side for the life of himHaven't watched every flames game but it seems like he peaked in the first few games this season.
He hasn't really been that physical, agitating presence we saw at the start imo.
He got his pension…..early retirementPut Ruz in, score 7 goals... coincidence?
Kadri continues to suck. Where's the hates to lose constantly stirring shit up net driving C we thought we signed? He deserves Lucic and Lewis for how he's played since the New Year honestly
Game was under control. Sutter rested himI was actually very surprised he wasn't out there or at the end of the game. He only played a min in the 3rd, literally the perfect amount of u have to dress him...
The thing about a skill 4th line is they have less skill than 3/4 of the 4 lines they might be matched up against. Unless you try to match them up against exclusively 4th lines, that lines getting their net filled much more than they’re showing off their skill. 4th lines are filled with the grind it out veterans for a reason, their role is to do not much, but make sure the opponents do nothing as well. The elite ones manage to eek out a couple more goals than the opposition, but the average one just controls the bleeding when they’re on the ice. You NEVER want a 4th line that’s trading chances with the opposition, because no 4th line is converting as much as a 2nd/3rd line are. This is almost basic lineup construction at this point. A guy like Lewis is a prime example. He has had a 12 year career now, with a career high of 26 points and is a minus player most seasons. He makes a living off just being in the right spot and disrupting plays, provides little to no offense, but also gives you 10-12 safe minutes a night against players much better than him.I choose option 3: scratch lucic, play Pelletier 15 mins a night, and run something like this.
Huberdeau-lindholm-dube/Pelletier
Dube/pelletier-Kadri-Tofolli
Mangi-backs-Coleman
Ritchie-ruzicka-Duehr
Ya know, a lineup with skill on 4 lines.
He was the #2C in 2016-17. Was tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer for the first 4-5 games or something along those lines.
Lucic also got scored against in even fewer mins. Lewis is fine to play, hes defensively responsible and plays a big role on the pk. Lucic is neither defensively responsible or offensively capableThe thing about a skill 4th line is they have less skill than 3/4 of the 4 lines they might be matched up against. Ritchie-Ruzicka-Duehr will provide a lot more sparks of offense, but as already witnessed tonight, got scored against in limited minutes and resulted in a line blender shortly afterwards.
Saying all that, nobody (including Sutter) thinks tonight was our ideal lineup. He just wanted to spark the lineup with a message and it worked. Will be interesting to see when Pellerier and Duehr get reinjected, a 3rd line of Pelletier-Kadri-Dube/Ruzicka/Duehr could be something.
