Despite two top scorers in the league and a top 5 V% goalie, the Flames can't win games.
So, it's time to cut bait.
Sergei Bobrovsky - G - His SV%, at .922, is one of the best in the league. He's a UFA at season end so he's a perfect rental at this time of year, with the All Star game incoming.
Mattias Ekholm - D - The All Star defenseman has one of the best ratings sets in the league, 24 points this season as well. His cap hit is only $6.25m.
David Savard - D - Another amazing ratings set, perfect playoff addition, only at $4.5m
Dmitri Orlov - D - Expiring $5.1m salary
Erik Johnson - D - Another strong ratings set for this Stanley Cup winner. Strong rumors that this is his last NHL season so he's another great playoff rental.
Michael Backlund - F - It'll break my heart but its time for Backlund to find greener pastures again. The perfect 3rd line C has a great salary at $5.3m and he can step up and play 2nd line minutes, including at the wing. If you're looking for playoff forwards, this is your guy.
