I personaly Think Howden will go earlier, good bet Kabanov will go to Washington, and I think the Stars will take Pysyk if he's still available, thay have virtually no D in there top prospects.

D is not a big need for Coyotes, and Maloney will not go with a G in the 1st round.

OEL, Goncharov, Summers, Stone and Ahnelov have the pipeline filled on defense. Scoring wingers are the need, and I'd expect Skinner to go here if still available.

At #22 BPA, but not a G. Too many 1st round picks have been wasted on goaltenders over the years. Simply not worth it.

That's a good point. I forgot that Vishnevski was sent to ATL as part of the Lethonen draft. I've heard really good things about Larsen though. But it would make sense to take a D especially if Larsen moves up to the big club.

Ranger fans:

I'm not so sure Chad Johnson is a future #1. And after watching Campbell at the WJC I think he has the intangibles you look for in a young goalie. Plus with the glut of talented young d-man I'm sure the Rangers could find a partner for some young offensive talent.

Then again it is Sather. He'll probably take another Del Zotto/Gilroy type player and sign him to a ridiculous contract. I honestly feel bad for Ranger fans. I know with the talent in the organization the proper leadership could do wonders.

I know what you're saying. I just think the size or Forbort is too good to pass up. The other guys in the system are big, but not hulking. And these hulking D are proving to be more and more invaluble. Pronger, Chara, Gill etc.

And I hear you on the goalie risks, but they simply don't have anything in the system.

Phoenix really needs a sniper/shoot first guy. I see them taking Skinner or Etem if available at #13.

Here's mine.

1. BOS via EDM - Taylor Hall
2. EDM vis BOS via TOR - Tyler Seguin
3. FLA - Erik Gudbransson
4. CBJ - Cam Fowler
5. NYI - Brandon Gormley
6. TBL - Brett Connolly
7. CAR - Mark Pysyk

Canes won't be drafting a defenseman unless one of the "Big 3" ends up slipping to them. JR tends to shy away from defensemen in the first round since dmen tend to take longer to develop then forwards.

my guesses:
1 EDM - Hall
2 BOS - Seguin
3 FLA - Connolly
4 CBS - Fowler
5 NYI - Gudbranson
6 TB - Gormley
7 CAR - Niederreiter (first team I could see taking Tarasenko or Granlund)
8 ATL - Johansen
9 MIN - Skinner (will try to trade down to get him but won't get a good offer, ala LA with Hickey)
10 NYR - Tarasenko
11 DAL - Forbort
12 ANA - Burmistrov
13 PHE - Granlund
14 STL - Bjugstad
15 BOS - Merrill
16 OTT - Etem
17 COL - Campbell
18 NSH - Watson
19 LA - Galiev
20 PIT - Toffoli
21 DRW - Pysyk
22 PHE - Kuznetsov
23 BUF - Sheahan
24 ATL - Howden
25 VAN - McIlrath
26 WSH - Kabanov (my gut is saying Tinordi on this one)
27 MTL - Jarnkrok
28 SJ - Picard
ANA - Schwarz
CHI - McFarland

1. Of course I've heard of Lundqvist. I'm talking 4-5 years down the road. Obviously Henrik is as good as it gets right now.

2. As for the Del Zotto qoute. basically i'm calling Sather an idiot and saying he'll draft something they already have and then over pay him. You can't argue that! hahaha

I know JR stays away from D. This is why Carolina doesn't have a stud defenceman in the system. I know McBain came on strong at the end and hopefully he develops nicely. But they don't have that #1 horse to ride. Hence the Gormley pick. A big safe D-man that will play 25 minutes a night.

Also NO WAY and I mean NO WAY Flordia is stupid enough to pass on Gudbranson. He could be the best pick of the draft. Not nearly as high end of Hall or Seguin but if you build a team from the back, like most GM's will tell you to do, he's who you want.

14. St. Louis - Emerson Etem
- Their goalie for the future

1. The Blues already have their goalie for the future; his name is Jake Allen.

2. Etem isn't a goalie.

3. In this scenario, with Tarasenko, Bjugstad, Sheahan and Bennett still on the board, I can't see the Blues passing up all four of those guys to go with Etem. For that matter, I doubt that Etem is still on the board at 14th overall.

Shoot, I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft Tinordi 14th overall -- or try to trade up for Gudbranson or Fowler -- given that this is Jarmo Kekalainen's last draft with the Blues, and given the preponderance of defensemen (5 of 10 first-rounders since 2003) the Blues have chosen with Kekalainen holding the reins on draft day.

I may be wrong so don't hang me but I thought the Islanders acquired San Jose's first round pick this year. I do not remember the details if it is even true.

The Isles have San Jose's 2nd round pick this year from the Andy Sutton trade.

Last year you guys had San Jose's 1st via the Chris Campoli/Mike Comrie deal.

yeah, that was a typo, sorry about that Prussian Blue, guys just had Jack Campbell first but I switched it to Etem because I think that'll be a better fit.

Any opinions are welcomed.

Hawks I dont see using our 1st on a dman with Olsen , Leddy , Lalonde , Connelly and Pepin already coming down pipeline in coming years

I expect us to go with a goalie if either Campbell or Pickard are still available because we have nothing in our system worth anything. Niemi is our #1 and Crawford will either be #2 or traded but after that we have no good goalies.

If neither goalie is available we will probably go with a winger as Beach/Skille might both be on team and outside of Sweatt (Still unsigned) and Aliu (Needs a year or 2 more in minors) we have no more depth at wing. With guys like Kane , Brouwer and Versteeg movign to NHL in recent year we lost most of our depth at wing
