Only two minutes old and already the 4 same posters have voted yes. So I expect the no's to run away with this moving forward.

This is a better thread than is Tippett "the problem". He's far from our only problem but he's a big one IMO.

I'm really not sure what they're waiting for. Fire him right now with 43 seconds left in the third. Just tap him on the shoulder and escort him back. Give Slaney the interim title. Fire Playfair and Tipp. Tonight.

Dave Tippett is such an amazing coach that someone will hire him immediately and give him a raise. Therefore, his firing would cost nothing.

This is what happens when you hire a GM based solely upon his analytics abilities. One key issue that happens is there is little value in character players. The guy that throws a good hit at the right time. The guy that drops the gloves at the right time. These guys are the glue of a dressing room but when your team is built upon analytics only you are missing that.

Tippet will likely welcome the firing when it comes and be unemployed for very little time. It will be interesting to see him with a team that has talent and the budget to compete.

Couldn't be more wrong if you tried. McGinn and White were both Chayka moves and they have been the most resistant to the losing country club culture that has set in under Tippett.

You don't watch this team closely enough if you think it's an issue of talent and budget.

How did Nik Grossman work out for you guys?

I voted yes. but I'd say just taking away Playfair and even Brown at this point would be a step in the right direction. I truly wish I had a better understanding of how Tipp is behind the scene but I believe there is some sort of coaching issue right now, whether that's Brown, Playfair or Tipp.

This is a great observation. I have not seen one complaint about either of these players, and although I'd say McGinn's production has been slightly underwhelming, he still shows up nightly. I can say the same about how well White has been playing. Is this a product of being new to a Tipp system or that that they are over achieving, because number wise they are below their past couple season's production.

Agreed. I'd like to see these two stick around and to see an "A" in McGinn's chest.

If I could vote, I'd cast a "yes" vote. This is maddening to endure; with Smith playing better, theoretical analytic additions, more salary cap spent on players, a local AHL affliate (playing the same "system") there's no reason they should be so poor in quality of play and standings.

I agree with McGinn and White, you could also add Richardson and Schenn to that too. Chayka's an analytics guy but he also understands how a hockey team works.

But I do think talent is an issue with the team. While there are players with talent, a lot are inexperienced. I don't see how you can look at this roster, compare it to other teams, and think it should be a lot higher up in the standings. All of our forwards are playing in spots that are higher up on the depth chart then they should be.

Our 1C would be a 2/3 on every other team. We have a LW as C and our other 2 are bottom 6 guys at best. None of our wingers would be on the first line other than Domi. Most would be 3rd liners on other teams.

You just described the WCF roster.

This isn't the worst roster in the league and it shouldn't be playing like it is. They definitely shouldn't be worse than last year.

Trade Hanzal, Stone, Vrbata, Doan if willing and then fire Tippett and Playfair. Interim Brown with Slaney, and get this show on the road.

The WCF roster was predicted to be one of the worst teams in the league.

Greatly over achieved.

And a big difference from that team and this one is that the players on that team were mostly career 3rd liners. They weren't great but didn't make many mistakes. And we also had Whitney and a younger Vrbata and Doan.

The team now is raw. They're 3rd liners now but they should become top 6 players. They have skill but make mistakes.

Brown has worn out his welcome also. The PP is trash. It's making me long for the John Anderson sling-shot break-out days.

Brown's PP relies on familiarity because every player on the unit needs to be able to fill in for the others when it rotates. Little hard to do when you've got a coach using **** personnel over the guys you need.

Someone with more time could probably figure out the PP with DeAngelo vs the PP without him.

I also put "interim" (as in temporary) for a reason. Unless you plan to break the boycott and go behind the bench yourself, you need someone to coach out the string. Dude could be a revelation, doesn't hurt to try.
