Russia leads 2-0 after first period. Not really many highlights for Finland thus far. Kähkönen got badly walked by in first goal. Liked Kuusla and Ylitalo thus far. Ylitalo should really be playing higher up the lineup.

Russia wins 4-1. Pretty dissapointing 1½ year wait for this age group to debut in national team and its basicly no show. I thought Kuusla was best Finn today.

Should Nurmi have been with HGC squad? Seems like a pretty good player.
I would say no. From looking at what Järventie has produced I think Nurmi would have been the same theyre both a bit raw for Hlinka just now. Even the bigger Halttunen has only shown glimpses here and there thou he can manage physically. Nurmi is the most explosive skater of this Finnish age group he can fly past opponents in a blink of an eye definetly good one.

Just finished watching. Gotto say Emil Kuusla is nuts his right up there with best wingers Järventie, Halttunen and Nurmi even ahead of couple those guys for 2023 draft. Also Elias Jansson looked good his skating has definetly advanced past year it was horrible at Pohjola-leiri for example. Kiiskinen and Hynninen were also better performers this tournee. On defence keep an eye out for that Niklas Talvikunnas guy big tall guy really strong. man among boys, really good defensivily, skates well for player his size and has good hands and solid passer. Ive had Kärki as the top defender his good puck carrier and rushes good at jumping on offence but Talvikunnas is definetly the most intriguing one. Emil Pieniniemi is a bit best of both worlds strong twoway defender good defensivily and has some offense to his game skates well enough good puck distributor and overall smart defender. Those 3 seem to be the most talent relevant defenders atleast atm.

The hope is that these kids develop properly, learn everything they can from older players and coaches. Not to mention continuing to train hard and work on their mental and physical preparation and be team players. Based on this age group the future looks rosy with those provisos.

Hard to believe he hasn't played an official game in a year and a half.
