Are you clairvoyant @Wabit , or did you see this and not post it?

Nope hadn't seen that. lol.

I was actually just looking at his SHL stats and didn't want to plug up the Gen Diss post with them. The old thread isn't locked but about full, so I started a new one. :)

The SHL site doesn't translate well, or uses different terminology than I'm used to seeing. I was interested in seeing how FJ was doing outside of the goose egg in points.

It looks like he's getting:
-3rd pair ToI (15:28), with limited special teams play.
-4th on the team in blocks.
-10th on the team in hits.
-10th on the team for shots, 3rd for d-men.
- his -5 is near the bottom of the team.
-PDO of 90.67 (1.96 sh% + 88.71 sv%) 4th worst on the team.
-CA/FA are in the top-5 (in a bad way) on the team.

His team Leksand is not very good (14 team league):
1 point out of last.
2nd worst sv%
2nd highest GA
9th in GF
12th in special teams play

with all that said, outside of actually watching him every shift it may be hard to gauge if he is actually progressing nicely.

Well he is playing in the SHL this year, not the SHL minors/jrs. So that is an improvement.

Must've gotten another goal in the last few days. He's at 2G - 1A in 13 games now. Not exactly a torrid pace, but signs of life.

So we got the scrub on the scrub team, eh?
Leksand was promoted last season no new team will dominate the SHL in the first season it will be a fight for survival all season. Two straight wins now things are looking up. Also for many games there were 4 regular d-men out with injuries which meant we had 4-5 d-men aged 21 or younger, with no prior SHL experience or similar, in the lineup that would be problematic for any SHL-team to handle. This meant Filip and a few others had to log more minutes than they could handle which was obvious when you watched the games. Filip and his defence partner struggled a lot (they were awful) and a lot of simple mistakes were made which directly meant goals in the own net. But I don't blame Filip he was forced to play in a situation he simply was not ready for.

When we started to get injured players back Filip was a healthy scratch two games but after returning to the ice he has played much better both defensively and offensively (2 goals) now that the more experienced d-men log the big minutes. He is also now paired with Philip Samuelsson which has helped a lot compared to playing with another young inexperienced d-man.

I think Filip has played pretty well since I last wrote here. As you can see he doesn't produce much offensively, something the whole team has struggled with, but defensively he has been solid. I think he has benefited from playing with a d-partner with more experience like Philip Samuelsson than another young d-man with no SHL level or similar experience as was the case earlier in the season. He is averaging 15:43 in ice time mostly on the 3rd pairing.

If his game translates over to NA ice it sounds like he’ll be a worse version of Brodin... Which is probably the least exciting type of player.

Feels like we could have signed an overager and ended up with a similar type of player.

If he can skate anything like Brodin, is sound defensively, and can move the puck a bit, then I will be happy. IMO, it's harder to find a mobile Dman who can defend in the NHL than it is to find an offensive dman who can put up some points, but can't cover his own shadow. We've got Suter, Spurgeon, Dumba, Hunt, and Mennell who can put up points, but only Suter(who is slowing), and Spurgeon(heading into his 30's) can defend reliably and well. Another young defensive specialist would balance things out.

Soucy...exciting stuff from him.
