From emailed press release:

This week, on a Board of Governors conference call, the Federal Hockey League has voted and passed an amendment regarding the player suspension rule on moves to the Southern Professional Hockey League.

With the vote passing unanimously, the revised rule now reads that teams can now re-sign players who had left the FHL to the SPHL and have since been released. The rule does not apply to players who are currently under SPHL contract.

Federal Hockey League Commissioner, Don Kirnan commented, "We are continually evaluating our product and how it is presented. We have had numerous discussions on this rule and in the end felt that if we had a chance to improve our product and further develop players it was in the best interest of everyone to make this amendment."

FHL Vice Commissioner, Andrew Richards stated, "We want to put the best product on the ice. We had some players that by this rule in effect we were freezing out of the game and our league. We always want to give the fans the best show and in an effort to do that, felt it was an appropriate action to review and change for the betterment of our league."

Playoff eligibility is still maintained at 10 games in the league to be eligible for post season play.
