Horcoff was the king of the bad post game interview. He may not have thrown guys under the bus like Moreau did, but he sure as hell never took much responsibility himself. Just a bunch of nose stroking platitudes with that guy. I got the impression he was more concerned with his role as NHLPA big shot than his duty to mentor a bunch of high draft pick kids. imo Horcoff is a huge reason why some of the younger players learned to get by doing the minimum. Stay healthy and cash those checks. Totally agree with the bold as well. .
I always got the impression he cared more about the union than the team too. I remember being at a game early in the season probably around 2009 or so. He was horrible that game, the team lost and afterwards Stauffer or Tencer (can't remember which) were making excuses for him saying he was on a six hour conference call that day with the union. Players association business was more important than the game that night. That was probably around the time I really started to sour on him. His involvement with the union was way too public. It hasn't been with other players, I couldn't tell you who any of the other Oiler NHLPA reps have been over the years.
