I like the original Halloween I & II.. original Elm street..
Pumpkinhead
Candyman

I think Silence of the Lambs was the best movie of it's decade, but for whatever reason I never view/classify it as a typical horror movie.. /peace

Jaws
Alien
The Thing

Those are my three favorites that probably most people would consider horror. I think that one of the things that I like so much about them is the exotic setting of each, making them pretty different from the majority of horror films which take place in an urban/suburban setting or the woods.

Then, there are several films that I like more or less as much that have horror elements, but aren't primarily trying to elicit fear in the viewer, so you might not consider them "horror" films, per se, unless you're being really inclusive:

Misery
King Kong
Aliens
Predator
Tremors
Army of Darkness

I like way more films than that, but those are the true favorites that I can watch over and over.

Lots of fun films in there, but I don't get "except New Nightmare and past" - what's past NN? The remake? And NN is the second best Nightmare film!! Also, the Dawn of the Dead series, not sure what you mean by that... Romero's living dead films? Or the two Dawn films?

Also, I love the first 2 Hellraiser films, but anything after that is really bad.

Anyway, cool to see Sssssss in there. :)

I don't think I've seen Silent House, but looking at that list, I think I should.

Among the films I listed, it's the weakest. Unless you can stream it at no extra cost, you'll want to pass.

I always remember the movie because of Elizabeth Olsen's performance, and extended sequences where the camera lingers on her reactions. The story itself is underwhelming and covers familiar ground. Mostly anything else on my list (and I know you've seen most if not all of them) is worth a watch.
