I found Jagr more unique and interesting to watch and while Kariya was very exciting at his best, he wasn't at his best for all that long.

I respect Jagr and his passion of the sport, and I aknowledge that he's better than Kariya and stuff, but I voted for Paul.

After The Trade (Roy going to Colorado and stuff), for a time period, the Mighty Ducks became my favorite team and it was all because of how Kariya and Selanne were kicking ass together.
They were beasts

Kariya is my 3rd favorite player all time, behind only Mario and Roy

Kariya's father taught math at the high school I attended.. He subbed a few times for my teacher and seemed like a really nice, chill dude.... so I'm going with Paul.

Jagr didn't share any of the hotties with me, so no votes for him.

Could it be that people like good players?

I think if you're talking strictly likeability, it has to be Kariya. I was in junior high-early high school during Kariya's peak, and it seems everyone's favourite player at the time was Paul Kariya. He also seemed like the most popular trading card at the time too. And has a clearly inferior player won any of these polls?

There have been very few, but it has happened.

Kiprusoff beat Roy, Demko beat Shesterkin, Konstantinov beat Pronger, Barkov beat Matthews, and Kessel beat Stamkos.

Paul Kariya tried to do the LeBron James superteam thing on the Avalanche when he bailed on a team that went to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals after demanding $10 million (and then, to add insult to injury, took a MASSIVE paycut to play in Colorado so they could afford their superteam) and he personally sucked and he never even got close to so much as looking at another Cup. Had he been patient and not gotten Cup greedy Anaheim probably would have let him ride it out as the old guy post lockout and he likely could have held the trophy. Karma. Never liked the dude very much because of it.
