Just take the losing conference finalists from each year and imagine that they won! Which resulting Final would've been the best?

2008 - Dallas Stars vs Philadelphia Flyers
2009 - Chicago Blackhawks vs Carolina Hurricanes
2010 - San Jose Sharks vs Montreal Canadiens
2011 - San Jose Sharks vs Tampa Bay Lightning
2012 - Phoenix Coyotes vs New York Rangers
2013 - Los Angeles Kings vs Pittsburgh Penguins
2014 - Chicago Blackhawks vs Montreal Canadiens
2015 - Anaheim Ducks vs New York Rangers
2016 - St. Louis Blues vs Tampa Bay Lightning
2017 - Anaheim Ducks vs Ottawa Senators

That 13 Kings/Pens series would've been great, as would 16 Blues/Bolts!

Looking at that life, I'm glad things played out the way they did. Only 2013 and 2014 would have interested me. Phoenix/New York would have been particularly terrible lol.

But MTL-SJS in 2010 would have been cool. Everything else is surprisingly meh.

2011 sharks lightning and Chicago vs Montreal in 2014 would have been cool. Seeing STL in the 2016 finals would have been fine too. That's about all I can think of...

2012 - I really like that Coyotes run and would have liked to see them play for the Cup against Lundqvist.

2013 - This was the only year between the Pens 2009 and 2016 Cups that they had a team built to be something other than a pretender. They obviously couldn't beat Boston and would have gotten wrecked by Chicago, they may have had a good series versus LA.

2016 - That Tampa team would have won the Cup upon beating Pittsburgh. Much like I said about 2012 Coyotes I would have liked to have seen the Blues play for the Cup that year.

I would have enjoyed 2014 the most, since it would have been a blood-bath in favor of my team and given us a three-peat.

2013 would have been the most interesting/competitive matchup though.

From a team quality standpoint 2013 is the only correct answer. You'd have the best Pens from between the cups vs the defending champion LA Kings, who would also go on to win the next year with a very similar roster. Thats about as close to a dream champion vs champion matchup as we could get in the finals, after the obvious LA/CHI WCFs.
