Fastest ever NHL period/game?

Technically, the fastest period ever is six seconds.... It's been done five times, fastest OT goal, ending the period.

On March 27, the Maple Leafs and Bruins played a span of 11:53 without a whistle in the first period of a game at TD Banknorth Garden. No idea how long the period lasted, but that appears to be the longest without a whistle.

That's only 12 minutes of stoppage. Averaging 4 minutes per period.

I remember going to a sens game a few years back and I think the game barely lasted 2 hours in total from puck drop.

All playoff OTs. They only do like 1 commercial break per period and it's so much better.

I think they only do 1 commercial break at the 10 minute mark and its so they can Zamboni the ice again

No I think they actually Zamboni the ice while the game is going on to save a bit more time
