1) For each Rangers game this year, everybody is welcome to comment with their two selections (one player from each team) who they think will contribute to the game-winning goal.

2) A correct answer is worth 30 points minus the number of minutes that the player was on the ice for, ignoring seconds. Some examples:
- Kreider scores the game winner and has 15:40 TOI; anybody who picked him gets 30-15 = 15 points
- McKegg scores the game winner and has 8:55 TOI; anybody who picked him gets 30-8 = 22 points
- Brent Burns scores the game winner and has 26:15 TOI; that is 30-26 = 4, but the minimum is 5 points

3) If your pick gets an ASSIST on the GWG, then you will receive half the points that you would have gotten had he scored it. Ties will be broken by the number of points acquired by goals.

4) I will always try to start the threads the night before with an updated leaderboard in the first post, and will only accept predictions posted before the scheduled start of the game.

5) In games that end in a shootout, whichever player scores the deciding goal will be given the GWG for the purposes of scoring.

6) In the event of a selection not playing a single second of TOI during a game, anybody picking them will be given the teammate with the next highest jersey number as a replacement, with numbers rolling back over to 1 after passing 99.

Points available from last game:
GWG: Buchnevich - 12 points
GWA: Zibanejad - 5.5 points
GWA: Lafreniere - 6.5 points

At the top, we have a new leader. @howztheglass picks up the 12 points available for Buchnevich and reclaims first for his third stint of the season.

Inside the top10: @Maximus and Mika continue their mutually beneficial relationship and are propelled into 3rd place; and @Ratelleitlikeitis grabs the 12 points for Buchnevich, moves one spot ahead and closes the gap that the top5 had created for themselves.

Outside the top10, @HockeyBasedNYC and @Brooklyn Rangers Fan pick up 5.5 and 6.5 points respectively, edging closer to within striking distance of 11th.

How can I not continue what I've been doing all year...right?

For the George McPhee led NY Rangers, I'll take some Mika with my coffee thank you very much

For the surging Rene Robert led Buffalo Sabres, I'll grab Mittelstadt

Just an obscurely remote hypothetical scenario. Georgi plays 58 minutes with a 2-1 lead and gets hurt, so Shesty enters the game. He scores an empty net goal, only to have Buffalo score on him to give the Rangers a 3-2 victory. Shesty's empty netter would be the game winner correct? Would that net ( bad pun) the person who selected him 28 points? (30-2 minutes played)

Nah, still not enough to make the top three...going with
Reinhart
Chytil

Lol, yes it would. Though I wouldn't suggest making that pick haha

I'm making a last couple of changes for next year, and picking a goalie shutout is something I've been mulling over. The amount of points would be related to the number of shots faced.

This got me wondering if a goalie had ever scored the GWG goal in a game.

Only once. Martin Brodeur's second goal that he got was as an own goal, not a shot, against the Flyers in 2000. It went as the GWG in their 4-2 win... it would have been worth 5 points in here lol

Lol, I hopped on board this time too.

I'm a little late with the next one, but I should be able to get it up in 3ish hours!

No worries all good. Funny all that loyalty by picking Mika for pretty much the whole season has really paid off lately for me as I believe Mika has 3 or 4 GW goals and a GW assist or two in just the last 3 weeks as he's been scorching hot!

I just looked and Zibs leads the Rangers with 6 game winners followed by Kreiders 4. For some reason I anticipate more peeps than just you to jump on the Zibby bandwagon going forward...hmmmm...lol
