Because most people drafted thinking he couldn't be and you getting an elite goalie with one of your last picks is super unfair

Stated he wasn't going to play at all in the 2012-13 season. Same reason why we aren't allowing Pronger to be picked, etc. That and I'd assume people would vote as if he weren't playing at all.

There are two other starting goalies available, though.

Yeah but if people draft thinking he isn't elegible and you get him this late that is incredibly unfair to everyone else. If they didn't think that there's no way he lasts to the last round.
