We would like to thank Chris Kelly for his service to the organization, and would like to wish him best of luck in Pittsburgh. We are excited to add Josh Archibald to our prospect crop, as he adds much needed depth to our right wing core.

Vincent Lecavalier and Nicklas Grossmann are both available for relatively cheap, but we will NOT be retaining salary or taking back a useless cap dump unless the rest of the return justifies it.


Andrew MacDonald, Scott Hartnell and Matt Read are all available to varying degrees. We'd love to swap Read for a equivalent defensman.


One of Sean Couturier/Brayden Schenn will be moved. Luke Schenn can also be included along with his brother. We would be looking for a high end defensman in return.


Other pieces available include our 2014 and 2015 1sts and all prospects, including Laughton and Morin(only in the right deal).

The Edmonton Oilers have traded forward Sam Gagner to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Luca Sbisa.

"This trade is a typical change of scenery type of move. Both guys will benefit from a fresh start and we think that they could reach the next level with their new team. Anaheim thinks that Gagner can establish himself as a top 6 center while we believe that Sbisa still has top 4 potential. He is already a solid bottom pairing guy and even if he is still young, he has plenty of NHL experience, which is important considering our young defense. We wish Gagner all the best in Anaheim."

We confirm. The last time we took on a Oilers reclamation project it worked out pretty well for us. We re-unite Gagner and Cogliano, who were the cornerstones of the initial stages of the Oilers rebuild. We think with a little structure, some instruction, and good linemates, Gagner will do fine here.
