I find this guy underrated. Two way player. Very good playmaker. Has good hockey sense and defensive ability. Not the most exciting, but he’s good in all three zones. You’ll likely hear his name more and he’ll move up draft boards as we get closer to the 2024 draft.

Good player. The Canes are a badly depleted team. They were minus six regulars in this one, including their top Center (Brayden Edwards) and top Winger (Logan Wormald).

Their track record recently isn't very good but Marques and newly claimed import Leo Braillard are a dynamic duo and still scoring at a respectable pace.

Marques is a pretty complete player already. He's got a good shot selection, is a smooth and mobile skater, has soft hands, great vision and likes to play with an edge. He's a hot head though and is famous for taking dumb penalties. Taking way too many dumb penalties. Pretty much all of his PIM's were unnecessary. If he fills out and learns how to control his emotions then he could be a very promising prospect.

interesting - stuff we don't get to see only with highlights. thanks for the detail.

any idea of his background? he said his family is european - was thinking maybe spain or portugal based on his name.

I've got no idea but based on his name definitely Portuguese, not Spanish.

Fraser Minten then tried to take him out with a brutal kneeing but Marques returned to the bench and played a shift towards the end of the period. Is also on the ice to start the 3rd so he should be fine.

Did this kid not get ice-time early on or something? Could be a huge riser. Scouts love heavy improvement in players draft year

You mean compared to last season? For sure. Lethbridge had many forwards aging out. New head coach Bill Peters seems to like him quite a bit despite rolling 4 lines quite evenly (if he has them that is:laugh:) at even strength.

This season, Marques was always on the top line, from what I've seen.
