I’m actually happy that he’s showing some frustration and passion. I am tired of top Slovak prospects in both hockey and football acting so nonchalant. Perfect example of this is recent scandal that led to firing of men’s NT coach. If he is showing anger that’s good in my eyes, he wants to win. If he is invited to WJC camp, a clash with mr. Bokros is inevitable.

Cajkovic had his best game yet with St-John last night. With his two goals, he generated multiple dangerous shots and was a constant threat offensively. He was also responsible defensively which was not the case for the last month. Really fun to see him picked it up after a rough month.

He’s definitely trying to push to take a bottom 6 spot on the WJC team. Hopefully the good play continues at the camp

He most likely has skills to make a difference and can play he is just grumpy, depressed because his team is losing. He needs to show he can be a leader and a difference maker. Even on a poor team, giving effort and being a threat, scoring near a ppg shouldn't be too much to ask for him with his hype.

Well he was cut from the u20 team because our coach is an idiot. he played well enough to be on the team no doubt about that. Must be pretty demoralizing to be cut while grinders in orange 20 program make the team :help:

Unfortunately, we didnt saw any per-tournament game with him. What if, just imagine, what if he isn't really such good, that he could be there?

Lets face it. He isnt on the level of Jack Hughes. He is 2001 class. He could be there for 2 next years.

I saw him play in the game against Canada it was on TSN. He was the best player outside of Hrehorcak for Slovakia, and had a few opportunities to score.

Maxim Čajkovič sa vyjadril k neúčasti na MS U20 aj k svojim šanciam v drafte
Very good interview into mindset of cajkovic. Some of the highlights:

-He thought the team would continue to play the way it had in pre tournament and the season would go that way. (He scored at a really good rate in pre season)
- He was upset that team had lost many games in a row so he showed frustration with how the team was playing, he did not hold back on his anger. Coach scratched him and had him watch from strands, he respects this decision. He than returned the next night.
- He says he respects coach Bokros decision to not have him in lineup, and says he understand the decision as he is 2 years younger. He says the u20 team played a very good tournament
- He says he doesn’t care about draft rankings and all that matters is what NHL teams have written down about him. He says it doesn’t matter what round he is drafted. He says that 16 nhl teams have been in touch with his representatives. He will work hard to be one of the best players in the NHL

Cajkovic 1+2 tonight as sea dogs win. He assisted on the tying and winning goal. Seems like when he has a big night, sea dogs seem to win. He will still need a very good second half of the season and very good U18s tourney if a first round selection is to happen

Cajkovic did not make a list. Hlavaj is there, though.

Like you said, he need to prove it yet, then he would deserve to be in first two rounds, at least(I wrote - at least, because we were hoping for first round, right?)

Btw, can cajkovic be part of the U18 team when he has already 18 yo?

Yes. IIHF uses your age based on how old you were on January 1st of the year of the tournament. He was 17 as of January 1st 2019, so he's eligible as a U-18 year old this year.

Edit: To clarify, you'd be eligible if you were born on January 1st, so technically, it would be your age as of December 31st 2018.

Good for him, then. He can be dominant there. Or be like Zadina in U20. After first strong year, came really weak in the second one. But I believe this is not Cajkovic case.

Let's face it, Saint John had sucked enough to stifle Veleno, so it should come as no surprise that they suck enough to stifle a 'lesser' player without Veleno. I'm not too concerned about Max. The lack of attention might make him a tidy 2nd round steal.

As someone who has seen him play live this year, It's confusing why everyone thinks he should be a first rounder? And why everyone thinks Saint John is making him worse? points maybe, but SJ has a good track record of developing players. Raphael Lavoie of Halifax is projecting to be a mid-late first rounder and he is miles ahead of Cajkovic as an NHL prospect. Its not that he is bad, its just really tough to go in the top 31 picks. there are really good players taken in the 2 and 3 rounds. If he was truly a first round prospect he would have been a lock for the Slovak u20 team. Lets hope he improves and does end up being a steal pick.

Depends when and how often you see them play, some players have bad showings when you watch them and are better the majority of the year otherwise. Also many Euros start slowly.

The reason he wasn’t on our team was because of our coach. No other reason. If you watched the game against Canada he was the best Slovak player on the ice
