Interesting? He is basically 34 when 2024-2025 season begins.

He is already sure he can't get a NHL deal? Perhaps there's an out-clause.

Still feels like he wants to leave NA due to timing of this.

His youngest is entering grade school and he and his wife wanted that to happen in Sweden.

Good for him and I'm glad he was able to play at home.

So was he not cutting it in the NHL anymore, or did he just want to go home?
He has been decimated by injuries the last like 4 years. The mind is still there but the body can't cut it.

He likely wouldn't have gotten an NHL contract except maybe a PTO. And the plan was always for him to go back to Brynas to retire.

I think he could have gotten a contract as a veteran 4th liner. There's worse players than him out there playing regularly.

It's a little like what Bob Gainey used to say about Carbonneau at the end of his career when told he couldn't skate ... "he knows where to stand."

But he probably only gets a year or two offer at best, and it's probably not worth moving your family an extra time for such a short stint, especially if the long term plan is to finish in Sweden anyway.
