Europe and NCAA well-represented in Dallas Stars prospect pool

The Dallas Stars are not afraid to delve into the European ranks at the pro or junior level. In fact, many of the Stars best defensive prospects were drafted out of Europe and have worked their way up the ranks fairly quickly. Former Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk, a Cornell alum, did not at all mind going for NCAA or NCAA-bound players. As a result, the Stars boast a pretty impressive pipeline coming in from the college ranks.

Dallas seems to do well with those OJHL players who have college commitments. I wouldn't mind another under the radar Shore type pick in the 2nd or 3rd round this year.

Klingberg's resurgence is a boon to a deep defensive core because not many have his offensive capabilities and I can't wait to see him in Texas next year.

Guptill needed a wakeup call and got it. Great development year for him.

Nice article, appreciate the look at some of the more obscure Euro's like Lindell and Molin on whom it's almost impossible to get information.
