Raonic doesn't look anywhere near Federer's level early. Raonic is good, but there's a big gap between him and the big 4.

Raonic isn't completely out of his league, but he's not going to beat Federer. Already down two sets, and clearly not playing his best tennis right now.

Still an awesome accomplishment to make the Semis of a Slam, though. :) Genie, although certainly remarkable in her own right, is benefiting from an era of parity in women's tennis. Milos is up against some historic greats on the men's side, and he's not the only guy unable to take them down. The important thing is that he's getting better and better, and has greatly improved his consistency level this year.

He has beaten Murray, and he's been so close to beating Djokovic...he's yet to find the trick to Nadal or Federer, though. I can see Milos solidifying himself as "the best of the rest" outside the top 4 (or 5, if Wawrinka can keep up his play), but the top 5 is going to be a tough nut to crack.

Can't wait to watch Genie tomorrow. :) She looks unstoppable right now. Kvitova may be the technical favourite, but I fully expect Genie to win.

On the men's side something like 36 of the last grand slams have been won by 4 guys. It's crazy tough at the top.

Federer at Wimbledon is a tough match-up. Allows Federer's old legs to keep up, reduces the effect of Raonic's power. That's what happens when you face the GOAT, even a slightly old GOAT ;)

Eugenie is much better positioned to win than Roanic is, correct?

Federer wins 6-4 6-4 6-4.

Raonic was in the match, but he didn't play as well as he could have. Federer's game neutralized his.

Congrats to Milos on an excellent run to his first Grand Slam semifinals. :)

Just checked, it's 35 of the last 37. There's a Wikipedia article on the Big Four that really shows just how dominant they have been and continue to be.

It's really no slight on Raonic that he can't beat them.

This is a great era for tennis.
Because the Big Four that dominates the game can do it all...
On all courts...
Have all the shots...
And will be sure fire Hall-Of-Famers.
Then there are a slew of good players...
While not at their level...
Can give them a run for their money.
Some of them may even reach their level one day.
It is actually quite competitive...
Even though the Big Four wins almost everything.

The future looks bright for Raonic.
He is only 23...
Not quite at his prime yet...
And his serve is already a weapon players respect and fear.
Plus...
He has already shown markable improvements in the other aspects of his game...
As he already moves better than a year ago...
And his mental game just continues to get stronger.
While he did lose in straight sets...
The result is actually closer than it looks.
Evidently...
He has closed the gap on the top players by quite a bit this year.
If he stays injury free...
It is not hard to fathom that he can reach the level of the Big Four in a couple of years.

Yeah Federer is dangerous at Wimbledon (7 time champion) and mobility is not as much of a factor as it is on say clay, but the advantage on grass goes to the power game, it's the fastest surface. There is no better surface for a power hitter like Raonic.

Bouchard loses the first set, and is already down a break in the second.

First time she has looked outmatched. I think nerves finally got to her at first, and now Kvitova just has all the momentum. Her serve is giving Genie trouble.

Yep, Kvitova is going to beat her. :( She just neutralized Genie's aggressive game so well.

Still a remarkable achievement for a 20 year old. Congrats to Genie - she's got an awesome career ahead of her. :)
