No disrespect to the Melnyk family but if I am being honest, this may be the best thing to happen to the Ottawa Senators franchise in years. We all hate people passing but his Ego and attitude has done a considerable amount of damage to the franchise. With his passing, hopefully the franchise will be able to work out a deal for a new downtown arena so the team can propel themselves into a spending team withthe significant added revenue that would generate. Strong and healthy Canadian teams is a necessity. Unfortunately, Eugene had poisoned that well a little too much to make it happen.

OMG67, I can't agree with you more. The Sens are in a better place. Now we need the Burke's to sell and get the Icedogs on some new firm footings.

Actually, he owned both the Mississauga Icedogs and St. Mike's Majors briefly before selling the Icedogs to the Burke family. He then moved St. Mike's out of Toronto to become the Mississauga St. Mike's Majors before selling that franchise that became the current Mississauga Steelheads.
