Very little faith should be put in the comment that they are disputing the bill. Yes, it's possible to have billing disputes, but it's also the first tactic for anyone trying to avoid paying their bills. The fact that the article references other creditors allegedly having issues with payment, plus the casino, indicates that it's a pattern.

Makes me think of an old episode of Rosanne where throughout the episode she's giving out various excuses as to why the bill hasn't been paid. Oh, it's in the mail... oops, no stamp on the envelope, it got RTS'd... ect.

For me, the casino story that was the OP is by far the bigger insight into his personality, but the back to back releases of these stories is interesting timing TBH.

At any rate, he was on a losing streak that weekend , of that we can be sure.

I give it a .01 % that it was an isolated weekend.

Still can't wrap my head around it. I mean, if your personal finances or businesses aren't doing all that well...who the hell would turn around and blow nearly a million bucks at the casino in the middle of all that? It doesn't make any financial or rational sense whatsoever.

In the spirit of objectivity, Melnyk's personality traits, (ie a willingness to take big risks) is likely a significant contributor to how he became a successful pharma entrepreneur for a time.

It's just not working in that sphere anymore, and it really doesn't work well when it's directed elsewhere without that supporting business base.

It's not how many gamblers mindset works unfortunately.

No need for a standalone thread on the jet lawsuit, we're discussing in the this one already, so I've edit the title and merged the two.

I love all of this!! More fuel to the Melnyk dumpster fire!

Can we take bets who will be suing Melnyk next to get paid? Will it be former employees? Contractors at CTC? His own bank? Stay tuned for the next episode in this riveting saga of how a billionaire lost it all by being a degenerate gambler and a overall d-bag?

"In the legal filings, Flightpath said it believed Melnyk's company also owed money to a host of other companies including the Ottawa International Airport Authority, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Ottawa-based navigation company NAV Canada. The companies refused to provide a comment to CBC on the matter."

I think we are starting to see a pattern here.

Ottawa unless it becomes a disaster
So how many lawsuits are we up to know?

Then you got John Ruddy suing him for a $1Billion.

The Casino suing him for unpaid debts.

His jet is confiscated for unpaid debts and needs to go to court for it.

Am I missing anything?

Peter O'leary was suing him for wrongful termination, 1.55 million, as of 2017. Not sure if anything's come of it.

How many lawsuits is this guy involved in? Jfc. What a great ambassador for the NHL. I'm picturing the vein in Gary's head bulging a bit more each time he sees a story about Eugene getting sued.

I hope I'm sitting in front of Melnyk in coach. You better believe I will be reclining my seat all flight long.

The structure of chabots contract is very telling. I think he plans to sell the team in a couple years. HE should get around 650 million for the Sens stadium included. I would imagine whoever wants to buy the team tho doesn’t want the stadium.
