2. The Matt Cooke investigation.
3. FYOUS
4. Something about his plane being taken away something something…
5. (Scratches head) Heatley?!
6. Have we moved to Gatineau yet?
7. New cheques that work at Casinos i feel may have been struck off the list?
8. High fives at in house charit….(put a pin in that Big Rig blew it, need new guy…Boro?)
9. POHO - check. Nicely done, saved a bunch of dough by calling Maguire player development guy.

Looks like Geener is starting to spend on this team. Can we really be upset if he spends ~$70 of real money this year ?

personally I couldn’t care less about his boats or where he plays cards.

How do you figure? Our current projected expenditure is $50mil and I suspect Brady + Bath + Gus will come in around $10mil. Certainly not more than $15.

I think Brady and Bath will cost more than $10 and I think we still may see 2C.

Fells like a good start to a budget to leave room for signing Norris and possibly Paul next year and Stutzle/Pinto the year after.

I'd be surprised if we're much over $65mil. I don't mind it.... just saying I highly doubt we spend 70 mil

I don’t disagree - that pretty much comes down to a trade with Logan/Brann or whoever for a $5 mill 1-2C option.

If we don’t I think he need to acquire someone to reach the floor.

What’s going on with the LeBreton lawsuits? Most likely the matter will be settled out of court and we will never learn “who won”.

I hope they both lose. A couple of greasy snakes.

This team needs one of the following to fuel a competitive cycle…

1) A fairy god owner willing to lose $25 mill a year or

2) a fan base willing to buy some tickets

… not feeling optimistic beyond Brady’s controlled years.

If we are ever going to get sold the last few years have set us up well. The team is loaded with prospects and a cost controlled budget with decent coaches/admin in place.

there is no mess to cleanup here other then the building which is still functional.

I think the starting point is an owner who can sell tickets in "Hockey Country" - not wha ou suggest that this market is a lost cause and we need a sucker to take this on.

Alfie wanted to buy this team - you don't think 1 press conference with Alfie talking up his love of the team next to an over who takes responsilibity for his business would sell 4000 seasons tickets on a weekend because I do . What we have now is an owner who (Like you) blames the mayor and the coaches and the fans and the casino for his shortcomings.

Lots of big companies go bankrupt because of poor management. I think you are under the impression that because Melnyck is rich he knows what he's doing - spent 10 minutes with a mega rich person and they don't even know where to put a stamp on an envelope.

There is no more important need to the franchise's long term health than a downtown arena. It will always be a struggle otherwise.

I always though the area being out in Kanata was an issue, but an overstated one. I'm not really a soccer fan, but I went to the first and second Atletico Ottawa home games with a friend and I now see the location/surrounding area of the CTC for the problem it really is.

I drove to the first home game and bussed to the second. It takes very little time to bus (imagine if there was a train station nearby) or drive there and there is so much you can do with your evening before/after a game. The gameday experience is infinitely superior. I imagine if the city approved the soccer stadium and/or casino around the CTC, more would have been built up in that area, making it a more enjoyable experience. As is, it's a long piece away and your entire night. A downtown arena would have been huge for the franchise and it's a shame it didn't work out.

In the past when the team had a real buzz, it seemed like they were able to draw enough, but ultimately it has proved itself as a pretty big detriment to the cause even if it's hard to qualify just how much.

I am confident that much like Winnipeg, they would have no problem as a small market team if they had a reasonably sized downtown arena rather than the 19,000+ aging behemoth a good 40 minutes out of town

It's night and day. Go to a game at Lansdown and it's really fun to go out there 2-3 hours before the game and stay 2-3 hours after hitting up a restaurant before and a bar after.

Never hear anyone saying they'll leave a few hours early and stay a few hours later to hang around Kanata for most of the day.

Kanata is a lovely suburb. It's not an entertainment district however.

3 years of sucking and Alfie would be nothing more than a washed up jock that should not be in manegment.

Alfie did more by his 25th birthday for this team then Melnyck will ever do. Don't discount integrity - it goes further then any amount of money can.

Nice selective memory. Melnyk bought a broke ass team and paid out of his own pocket for some great times.
It does not matter what the Alf did the vultures in here would turn on him in a second.

If he ran the team they way Melnyk does you can count on it.

Alfie cares more about the place he now calls home more than Euge, so he already has a leg up on him.

Does Eugene even own a home in Ottawa?

Those are not good young prospects on a team. There are no top six players. The team is not build to make playoffs. It is a huge mess for a new owner, when you have only one piece to promote - Stutzle.
Reminds me Yahsin years.

How has this turned into one vrs the other? All I am saying is as soon as the team hit a rough patch you all would run him out of town.

More nonsense. Tkachuk has been promoted not only in Ottawa, but around the league including by the league itself. Everytime I watch a Sens game he is mostly all they talk about, his name is everywhere & he along with Chabot have become the face of this franchise.

They have a number of young guys they can promote, Norris who came in 2nd in the rookie race just this past season, Batherson who was the leading scorer in Belleville & also had a great first full yr. Chabot who is a dynamic player, Stutzle, Formenton, Pinto whose team went to the frozen four last season & C. Brown & Nick Paul who won gold at the worlds. Next yr they will be able to promote Sanderson, Gustavsson & maybe L. Brown & Sokolov. Have you explained why you are a Sens fan yet with all your negative talk? Are you aware they are rebuilding & that rebuilds take a few yrs?

In the prime years the team was one of the best drawing teams in the league. When your attendance is higher than Toronto's, it's more than just enough.

You're rather ignorant about Ottawa's geography though. The building is in the city and it's less than 30 minutes from Place d'Orleans.

Assen na yo!
