His greatest threat now is his mobility. His ability to move to another team with a future, not a team that doesn't want to win a cup and gives up one 2OT goal away from a gimme final.

Not that we didn't know this already, but how lucky are we to have him? I find over the years our players are diminished for playing for an "unsexy" team like small-market Ottawa, but there really is no denying anything with him anymore. Any honest person would take Karlsson before any other defender, and after last year's playoffs, he's finally being accepted as one of the league's elite by the hockey world.

If he ever left, it would be devastating for the organization.
