Wow. What a turn around for him!
Good for the guy, pretty crazy stat that he's the longest between 40 goal seasons since Howe.
It’s not exactly the most flattering stat, when you think about it.
Probably wouldn't have been so long if he had better players around him to feed him the puck. Carolina didn't have that for much of the latter part of his career outside of Semin going nuts during the lockout shortened season. It’s not exactly the most flattering stat, when you think about it.
This is Staal's 3rd 40 goal season.Still scored 40 goals in the NHL, there are probably a huge number of NHLers who wish they hit 40 goals once in their career, let alone twice!

His 45 goal, Cup winning season seems so long ago I barely remember it myself!Three times even!
Last season Wild were top 5 in the league in scoring, this season top 10, but has only been improving through the season because they started out with so many injuries.40 goals in today's NHL in his 14th season, that's pretty damn impressive. Especially on a team not known for high offensive output.
You know they were second in the league in scoring last year, right? And that the post about Lemaire, and the trap, was a joke?40 goals in today's NHL in his 14th season, that's pretty damn impressive. Especially on a team not known for high offensive output.
To be fair he looked like crap in Carolina, also. I thought he was going to be the worst signing of that free agency period to an albatross of a contract. Wroooooooong. And yet he looked like he was on his last legs in this league in his somewhat brief stint here in NY.
Just goes to show how AV consistently brings out the worst in his players
