I like him on the bottom pairing.

However we have a long jam of bottom pairing dmen in my mind

Reinhart,Davidson,Fayne,Gryba,Nurse, Schultz.

These 6 in my mind are 5-6-7 dmen on most rosters.

we need to stop adding these bottom pairing types and try to hope they become a 2nd pairing, etc

they wont

We need to let Gryba go this off-season if we want an realistic improvement on our backend or find a taker for Fayne.

I prefer a taker for Fayne.

This is our realistic defence for next season:
Klefbom-xxxxxx
Nurse-Sekera
Davidson-Gryba
Reinhart/Clendening

I think we're lucky we didn't lose Eric Gryba this off-season. Having a guy that already played here a year already is beneficial.

His play in last night game against Calgary was pretty decent and gave the Oilers much needed push back considering after the home opener. The Flames did their best to push the Oilers around and beat us in the new building.

Adding Gryba to the lineup gave us extra grit and could be a factor to the relatively tame game compared to the season opener. He's a great bottom pairing man, hope we can keep him around for a few more years.
