me: you called it a penalty live, assuming there was no touch
ref: yes
me: and then you overturned it as you saw there was a touch by the defender
ref: yes
me: so the defender got the last touch
ref: yes
me: so it would be a corner then
ref: [dissent yellow]

Technically if VAR overturns a pen, they can't award a corner (as dumb as that is). Restart is a drop ball to the defense.

No idea about the dissent yellow though since I'm watching Casemiro be hilariously lazy.

None were given, the joke was just that I would get one were I to say this to the ref

But that’s one of the stupidest rules conceivable

Gusto remembered James scoring against Brighton and felt he had to fight for his spot

Feel like the goalie made that save look more complicated than it should have been

Yea I think there should be a "restart play in the most fair way that you reasonably can" option for the refs. Obviously not every situation is going to feel "fair" but it would help cases where a pen is overturned because of a touch on the ball.

Is it a UEFA wide rule that they can't award a corner? Or just the English?
