A once-big game is back to being potentially important, as surprise challenger Liverpool take on the consistently top Manchester City. Elsewhere, recently resurgent Chelsea travel north to St. James's Park to take on the magpies. We also get a nice London derby, with Arsenal going to Brentford, and Tottenham hosts European contenders, Aston Villa, with the Spurs at partial strength.

Good chance for the bottom 3 to pick up points. All at home to mid to lower table teams. Not sure if they can get wins but they need points anyway they can get them. Would say Sheffield should be the most desperate as they take on the team closest to the drop zone.

Not including Everton as a bottom 3 team. Think they are above that even with the deduction unless that deduction hits the players and they let it sink them. Bournemouth seems the most likely candidate to go down if one of the promoted teams are to escape. But they may be finally putting it together so could be giving themselves a cushion with a win.

How is that not a yellow card? Salah gets pulled down to the ground by the back of his shirt.
Because City commits those types of fouls 4-5 times a game so the ref gets used to seeing them and then doesn’t card them.

Pep has coached City excellently to commit tactical fouls either very early in breaks or just after a break checks back (like then) and refs routinely don’t care someone under the dumb idea that it wasn’t disrupting a chance.

Then and there
It wasn't just Alexander-Arnold, Matip also was caught out in no man's land not closing neither ball carrier nor covering Haaland close enough (although the latter can be understood him leaving that to van Dijk). But all in all Ake was able to progress too easil wit the ball.

It's not news really, but Haaland quickest to 50 goals in Premier league history (48 games).

Allison has been surprisingly error prone, not only that miskick in the goal build up, which caused the turnover and Ake getting hold of the ball.

Not a great start today but could be a lot worse. Need to start breaking those lines. LFC have the bench to make some changes. Will see what happens. Can’t make mistakes there and blinked first

I can't believe officials don't hand out more yellow for that.

Hits the back of his hamstring and multiple players rush the ref with their arms out wide demanding a pen. PGMOL talks all about how they want to cut down on dissent and players going at the ref, but then repeatedly refuse to penalize those types of things.

LFC got extremely lucky today. Would have gladly taken a draw before the game started. Need to clean up in the first half of December.

Alisson had the stanky leg all game today. Hopefully he is okay, but he could have gotten hurt on international duty and played on it today. Would explain a lot. Meanwhile Ederson stayed home with a “swollen foot”

What an horrible show from both teams. Especially for LFC, which looked flat. It is somehow understandable after the international break.

But as bad as this game was, the crowd was even more pathetic, I mean it's 1 v 2 in the league. You are winning and you could not hear any chants from the crowd. Sorry to be rude, but these fans don't deserve this quality of a team. Any other fanbase or stadium and it would be rocking in this situation.
