Danner has been solid for Vancouver since coming back from injury. 28 IP this year, 17 hits, 12 walks, 33 K. Sub 3 ERA. I would assume he’ll remain unprotected in the rule 5 this offseason, but as a converted catcher who was a highly rated two way prospect out of HS could see someone take a flyer as there might be upside there. Interesting to see how he performs in AA eventually.
Also the Hernandez in NH is intriguing as he’s been great all year. The one still in Vancouver not so much. They keep confusing me when I see them in boxscores

I don’t feel all that bad after looking and watching the Padres free fall. With that high priced roster.

I can't believe we have a roster with Guerrero/Bichette/Hernandez/Springer/Semien/Ryu/Ray/Berrios and still will most likely comfortably miss the playoffs.
They need to be in the American league central division, then their chances of post-season would drastically increase.

The amount of mistakes and costly mistakes umpires make nowadays is quite alarming.
Take a look at this AB from last night in the 7th inning Manoah vs Grossman.
The count was 0-1 and somehow that 2nd pitch was called a ball. Changes the entire outlook of the AB from being 1-1 when it should have been 0-2

Missed the game yesterday but it looks like the called strike 1 was actually a ball low so it evened out?
Agreed generally that the umpiring is staggeringly bad.

Yep but you see alot of low strikes that just touch the very bottom of the strike zone called.
Pitch two is hilarously low compared to the top of the strike zone and basically a perfectly executed high strike.
It's actually insane how much influence the home plate umpire has on the outcome. Even in hockey if the ref calls a terrible penalty, teams still only convert on like 20-25% of them anyways where in baseball the umpire can outright put a guy on first base with a bad call or even bring in a run.
Robot umps would improve the game dramatically. The problem with the umps now, is they miss calls and the strike zone is random.
One of the called strikes in game 6 with Royals with Revere or JD at the plate had a huge impact. Can't remember the exact situation though.

If you believe Buck, a lot of that is the result of many umpires standing slanted and farther away then they used to rather than directly square with the plate. They do this because they're worried about backswings and apparently have been told by their union to do that (and if you've ever been a part of a union, you know this is the sort of thing they would push).
You'd think the umpiring union would be okay with it. Obviously electronic strikes zones would not only be more accurate, but it would be safer for them and we wouldn't have to have all these old guys wearing heavy and hot equipment in the middle of summer.

Pillar is one of the players doing it as well which surprises me.
This response is ridiculous. Lindor signed a huge contract and isn't living up to the expectations. Fans booing is perfectly fine.

I don't disagree with their premise but going against/alienating the fanbase never ever ends up going well for the players. It just never does
