Beauchemin. Most minutes, toughest minutes, 82 games and second in D points (and only 2 behind Barrie for 5v5 scoring). Barrie is the runner up for that PP point lead. EJ 3rd, Zads 4th, Holden 5th.

If this really is the Norris it's Barrie

Bah, you beat me to it. :)

If we're giving out an Avs' Norris, it's Barrie easily, since the Norris is essentially a defenseman scoring race.

If we're taking all around play into consideration, the best defenseman on Colorado's roster this season was Beauchemin.

Barrie, but also fine with Beauch. Either one is a much better choice than Johnson.

I went by the description in the OP:

"Awarded to the defenseman who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position"

Beauchemin

Definitely Beauchemin. Inexplicably more points than EJ, and faced the toughest competition for the entire season, until they tried out some new things with the youngsters the last few games.

Roy would hand that mofo straight to Nick Holden and then threaten everyone when they didn't clap for him.

It FB, he had more points than John Mitchell. That's all that matters

Beauchemin wins easily.

FB 1st, Barrie 2nd, EJ 3rd, Bigras 4th.

Real shame we wasted FB career year on this season. If EJ and Barrie had been our two best D (like they should) we would still be playing right now.

It's kind of hard to crap on Barrie completely when hes been chained to one of Nick Holden or Nate Guenin.

You can't have a fringe NHL defender play all year as your #4 getting over 22 minutes a lot of nights and expect to make the playoffs.

We can fix that in the off-season, we'll see how good of a job they do at it without cutting off the hand in order to get a foot.
