Yep, very well done by them.

Compare that to what the Blackhawks gave up for Ladd. Both Purcell and Hudler have the exact same production this year and both have better career playoff numbers.

Yeah that Hawks trade is super lopsided. But no one is going to question their moves much because of past results and the very real possibility of yet another cup this year. Ladd might even take a discount in the offseason to extend with them.

Wait, what, we bury a #1 pick prospect on this club for most of two seasons, have a dolt like Purcell occupying a regular topsix position for who knows why, then we get rid of the flotsam while our pick is buried on 4th line. This is what the org did for two seasons.

Happy to get rid of Purcell, actually wonder why he was ever acquired.

Lol. Yakupov sucks dude. He was buried because he is legitimately bad and has barely earned a spot on the team at all, let alone the top six. There is actually an argument that he belongs in the minors given his lack of system play and constant errors. I just hope that when we trade him we can fool others into believing he has value.

You can ask MacT about his love for Purcell. It was his deal.

Well we know that. The current management and coaching still had Purcell in topline this year. Again for what reason. We weren't even able to pump this lethargic players tires.

We're placeholding anemic vets in our topsix while Yakupov rots on the 3rd/4th line most of the season. This would make sense nowhwere.

Not like Purcell was useful here any point prior either. Why didn't Chia get rid of this guy last offseason?

Gagner was traded for Purcell...

If we retain anything i think we get hosed

Hosed? What exactly did you expect for Teddy freaking Purcell? This seems exactly fair. This guy was a total no show after that hot period earlier in the season, just be happy with the 3rd and to get the softness out of here.
Addition by subtraction if you ask me and they get a decent pick which is a bonus.

We turned a first rounder into a third, go oilers! Did we fire everyone involved in this depreciated asset yet? I really hope so.

Yep, now we're doing it with another first rounder. The whole Purcell saga here is a disgrace to this org and what it does to its first round prospects.

A team that gives up on its own and prefers to play a pathetic Teddy Purcell in regular topsix rotation. While giving up on its own first round picks. :shakehead

Purcell would've gone for less than a 3rd last year just because of the year remaining on his contract. His highest value was/is right now.

Because Yak was injured and his play when he got back from injury didn't warrant a spot higher in the lineup? He was useful enough otherwise he would have gotten a fifth rounder. Stop with the hyperbolic reactions.

 what did people expect we would get for Purcell? He's a complimentary player that had a decent stretch when Hall and Leon were playing their best hockey. The guy is soft as butter and we all knew he didn't fit the mold of this team at all. A third round pick isn't that bad, I think chia will flip it at the draft anyways.

"That McDavid kid is good!"
"Lowe has all those rings so must be smart."
"Mr. Katz, you are awesome!"
"Great hair, Katz Jr."
"Hall skates like the wind."

Decent deal, about what you'd expect.

hyperbolic reactions to this pathetic org?

not possible.

I'll go with the hyperbole and dismissive reaction to what this org does until it starts making positive moves.

Purcell would have cleared waivers last year. Probably would have at the start of this season as well. Him playing his best with good linemates, and his contract being almost gone raised his value to a 3rd
