TONIGHT’S GAME - The Bruins visit the Islanders tonight in game 6 of their best-of-7 Round Two series with New York leading three games to two. - The Bruins have a 4-21 record all-time in best-of-7 series when they trail 2-3 in a series and they are 12-13 in game 6s of series in which they trail 2-3 after game 5.

INJURIES - Curtis Lazar - lower body - Brandon Carlo - undisclosed - Kevan Miller - undisclosed - Ondrej Kase - upper body - John Moore - hip surgery

BOSTON vs NY ISLANDERS, LIFETIME SERIES - The Bruins and Islanders have played 2 lifetime playoff series with NYI winning both ... They have played 16 games with NYI holding both an 11-5 Boston Bruins: Media Notes advantage and 65-50 goals for/against edge. - Their previous series was the 1983 Prince of Wales Conference Championship series which NYI won 4-2. - Their 1st series was the 1980 Quarterfinal series, won by NYI, 4-1. - FYI: NYI’s Mike Bossy was the 1st player in NHL history to have scored all 4 of his team’s game-winning goals in one playoff series, doing so in the 1983 Conference Championship series ... The Islanders won the Stanley Cup in each of the years they faced the Bruins in the plaoyffs ... These teams combined for 248 PIM (124 each) in the 1st period of gm 2 of their 1980 SF series on 4/17/1980, which remains an NHL record for PIMs by both teams in 1 playoff period. 2020-21 SEASON SERIES vs. NY ISLANDERS - The Bruins went 3-3-2 vs. the Islanders this season with a 3-0-1 mark at home and an 0-3-1 record on the road. - The Bruins were led in scoring by Brad Marchand (4-3=7 totals) and David Pastrnak (2-5=7) ... Goaltending was split 3 ways by Tuukka Rask (2-2-0 in 5 gp), Jeremy Swayman (1 shutout in 1 gp), and Jaroslav Halak (0-1-2 in 3 gp). - NYI outscored BOS by a 21-18 margin while BOS held the edge in shots at 269-216. - BOS went 4/25 on the power play (16.0%) and 85.0% on the penalty kill (3/20).

OVERTIME STATS - The Bruins have played 144 OT games in their playoff history with a 62-79-3 overall record, 33-35-1 at home and 29-44-2 on the road. - They have gone to multiple OTs in 27 games and they are 11-10 in 2OT games, 3-2 in 3OT games and 0-1 in the 6OT 1933 semifinal vs. TOR that was the longest such game in their history. - 6 current Bruins have career OT playoff goals - Bergeron (team-record 4), Marchand (3), Krejci and Smith (2 each), and Coyle, and Kuraly (1 each) ... Marchand’s goal on 5/17 in gm 2 of the Round One series was the fastest Boston OT goal in team history at 0:39, and was the 4th-fastest OT goal scored overall in club annals. - Tuukka Rask has a 15-13 record in 28 overtime playoff games. PLAYOFF NUMBERS 4 - Current Bruins who have played 100+ NHL post-season games - Patrice Bergeron (159), David Krejci (155), Brad Marchand (131) and Tuukka Rask (103). 3 - Boston appearances in the Stanley Cup Final since 2010-11, the most of any team in that span. 4 - Players on Boston’s current playoff roster who were members of the 2011 Stanley Cup championship Bruins team - Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Brad Marchand and Tuukka Rask (backup). 6 - Stanley Cups won by Boston (1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, 2011) ... That is tied with CHI for 4th among NHL teams, trailing only MTL (24), TOR (13) and DET (11). 10 - Patrice Bergeron has been announced as the 10th straight finalist for the Selke Trophy in his career (4 wins). 28 - Game 7 appearances by BOS, which is the most by a team in NHL history ... Their 15-13 record in those games are also an NHL record for wins (tied w/MTL) and represent more wins than 20 current teams have played game 7s. 74 - Overall playoff appearances for the Bruins ... The Bruins hold the NHL record for consecutive playoff appearances with 29 straight from 1968-1996.

So as the great Monty hall would say pick your door. Door number 1 islanders in 6. Door number 2 bruins in 7 or Door number 3 islanders in 7. There it is my fellow bears. I did the math and came with this computation.

I will be watching every second of this game . If every player is willing to play hard enough I have confidence. If the complete soft play of some continues well the results will show. If at the end of the night a player has zero hits and has shied away from puck battles now we know his compete level. We know the leadership group will do there part . There is enough talent in that room to force a game 7. GO BRUINS

Is Rasks name on the Cup again since 2011? Let me check? Nope! Until it is I don’t have any faith in him at all! Until he gets the job done and is on it as the #1 not a back up I will continue to doubt him. Make me a believer but as of now I’m not!
I can't imagine why anybody would ever want to be an NHL goalie with fans having expectations like this^^^^

for 7.5Mil a year?....sign me up...I'm willing to take the abuse...

Seems like NBC and NBCSN are showing the game in the Boston tv area tonight. That's probably unprecedented for the NHL to have a round 2 game televised, on a weeknight, on a local NBC affiliate?

I noticed in my ATTTV Now app this morning that NBC has the game plus pre and post-game on NBC 10 Boston. My fubotv app had regular programming listed, but when I checked a few hours later, it, too, showed NBC in Boston airing tonight's game plus pre and post-game shows.

I doubt this will ever happen with ABC next year and every other year they'll have the NHL? Certainly neither national ABC nor a local team's ABC affiliate. I doubt even a conference final will land on ABC primetime, as the NBA will always get priority.

Hmmm....what prompted this, seemingly suddenly? Well, I guess NBC has confidence in the Boston market? The Boston tv rating should be better than regular NBC programming in the Boston market? Plus, isn't NBC10 in Boston different than NBC in other cities, where I think it's locally owned here and may have more freedom to deviate from regular NBC programming?

It's still listed on NBCSN in Boston also.

I doubt NBC shows it in NY, just NBCSN there. Islanders would draw much lower ratings there for NBC than the Bruins will in Boston tonight.
