But Canes blowing another 2-0 lead, while failing to win a road game--again, would raise questions about Rod's future as HC etc.

I'm just looking at it from favorite point of view.

I wouldn't get into an economics discussion around the Rangers. They could be the worst hockey team that ever existed (and often are) but will still always be at the top of franchise value with the Leafs and Habs. Address the secondary market or lower face value -- something clubs like the Rangers have no motivation to do.
