The Canes are a great defensive team but I think if we play physical against the hot heads on the team-- Smith, D'Angelo, Svechnikov, we can get them off their skill game and make them take penalties.

I think we will live and die this series with special teams. We need to score on the PP and limit the Canes to 1-2 PPs a game max. Hit their D and play stingy D. I think Igor is gonna be a monster this series. Raanta is good but he's a small goalie, pepper him and screen him. LGR.

I don't get how the Canes are so good on keeping the puck out of their net, their top 4 has TDA and Skjei. I think I heard that Skjei has become a better player on the Canes but still, how much better could he be? And their bottom pair has Brandon Smith, who I'd prefer to any of our 3 bottom pair guys (this season obviously) but not like he's a world beater. I guess the best defense is a good offense...

I think it’s simple (we’ll not simple to execute) but if Caroline hems us in the zone like Pittsburgh did we’re gonna get killed. We need to play a structured defensive game and make sure we move the puck up quickly.

their speed and pressure they get from their forwards coming back do a great job not allowing many opportunities to carry it across the blue line 3 on 2 or 3 on 3 so rare any of their dmen see forwards coming at them skating downhill with ice to work with.... big part of that is the way they forecheck and pressure in your zone makes clean breakouts tough to create if they get in on their forecheck. they force a lot of teams to dump and have like 1 guy pressuring so tda and skjei can use their legs to retrieve and wheel it out before pressure gets there. smith was always a solid player who took too much heat here. can be a steady piece in a good lineup, not good enough make up for a bad one. hed look much better here now and an upgrade over braun nemeth and schneider in the short term.

I don't expect a win,but to not get raped all over the ice would be fine for me.Be competitive for a full 60 and I'm happy

A little more time for the kid line and Motte would be great too

Kid line should be matched up against Smiths pair,so take advantage of it

Igor is hopefully at full health and the nerves are long gone. He had a BIG time game 7 so should come in confident. Kreider and Zbad are in the flow and hopefully Panarin is feeling better after another day of rest and the high from the OT winner.

Carolina is a skilled and experienced opponent but we're certainly going to be better than what we showed in the Pitt series.

Not expecting a series win, but if we can somehow steal game 1, that puts a metric f***-ton of pressure on the Canes. We should have the edge in net. Contain shots against to the perimeter and hope for some puck luck going in your favor.

Carolina is absolutely relentless on the forecheck, and deep as hell. There’s going to be nowhere to hide against them, unlike the Pens. Unless Reaves magically finds another gear, I don’t see how he makes it past game 2. The Canes are just too quick across all 4 lines. The second line also worries me, since they skate like they’re in quicksand. I can see that line getting pinned a lot.
