A group of young greenhorns, tired of the status quo , have decided to take matters into their own hands. To make the playoff world a better place, they have banded together and use their special skills to steal their opponent’s desires, as well as hockey games. They are….

The Phantom Leafs!

Auston Matthews! After scoring his first career playoff goal in game 3 (along with an assist on the tying goal), Matthews will be looked at to continue his offensive play, while maintaining his defensive play in the series so far. If the Phantom Leafs are going to successfully escape with their target’s treasure, expect Matthews to play a major role. A future leader of the Phantom Leafs, his versatility allows him to fill all roles..

Mitch Marner! After scoring the first Leafs goal of the playoffs, Marner contributed just as importantly in game 3, checking the stick of Capitals’ Matt Niskanen. His name may not be on the score sheet, but a Phantom Leafs leaves no trace of their attack behind. Using a Agility and Magic build, Marner’s flashy style is the perfect fit for the Phantom Leafs.

William Nylander! Nylander also scored his first playoff goal in game 3, tying the game at 3. Furthermore, his possession % at 5-on-5 was 82%, leading all players. Nylander is the (not so) secret weapon of the Phantom Leafs. His weapon, ‘Hockey Stick’, his equally accurate and deadly.

Frederik Andersen! The sturdy backbone of the Phantom Leafs, he has leveled up in the playoffs with a .925 Sv% thru three games. He has made good use of his Endurance stat this season, appearing in a career high 66 regular season starts. Keeping the Leafs in each game of the series with timely saves, Andersen has proven a crucial addition to the Phantom Leafs roster.

Phantom Leafs Lineup:
Zach Hyman - Auston Matthews - William Nylander
James van Riemsdyk - Tyler Bozak - Mitch Marner
Leo Komarov - Nazem Kadri - Connor Brown
Matt Martin - Brian Boyle - Kasperi Kapanen

Matt Hunwick - Morgan Rielly
Jake Gardiner - Nikita Zaitsev
Martin Marincin - Connor Carrick

Frederik Andersen
Curtis McElhinney

Their targets (Washinton Capitals roster):
Alex Ovechkin - Niklas Backstrom - T.J. Oshie
Marcus Johansson - Evgeny Kuznetsov - Justin Williams
Brett Connolly - Lars Eller - Andre Burakovsky
Daniel Winnik - Jay Beagle - Tom Wilson

Nate Schmidt - John Carlson
Dmitri Orlov - Matt Niskanen
Brooks Orpik - Kevin Shattenkirk

(all rosters as of late Tuesday, April 18th)

I'm glad at least that our pain as Caps fans gives such enjoyment to you Toronto fans.

It's nothing against the Caps specifically, we'd be thrilled to be up in a playoff series against the Chiefs from the Slapshot movie....

Would love to see the caps pull a sharks and tack the leafs for 7 or more

Mind you the leafs have been playing great and surprisingly looking like the better team so far... should be another fun game to watch

I fully expect a strong push by the Caps to start the game. The Leafs need to stay composed and try to capitalise on any holes Washington leaves open.

Caps have the players to make a cup run....I still think it's possible if they catch fire.

I wish they'd put in Grubby...he deserves a chance IMHO ...

Go Caps

We're not happy in your pain. We would be happy whoever we were playing. That we're beating the best team in the nhl points wise is just the cherry on top. We're just enjoying the moment. Dont take it personal. It's shocking how far this team has come in a year.

Caps take this, hopefully the Leafs don't straight up Oiler the game tho.

I'd say there is zero chance the Leafs win.
