Is it confirmed Ian Mendes is still calling the parade or is that still up in the air?

Ottawa
Sens can't score 1 goal and expect to win.. Pens have too much talent to let that happen. Néed to defend and then counterattack consistently.

Yeah. I get that we can't run a track meet, but there needs to be a balance. Can't just sit back and let them hem us in our zone. We looked great after the tying goal and in OT.

If it continues at 17 Pen giveaways to 6 for Ottawa the Sens will put up more goals.

IMHO as well executed as that game was it was on the safe side of conservative, which is fine. When the game got to 1-1 and OT Ottawa was very effective attacking more while still being defensively responsible and that, again IMHO, is where Ottawa's sweet spot is so there is room for improvement.

Just buckle up for the Pens push to start the game and push back as hard.

If you're the best player in the playoffs you do.

Nope. Alfie was spectacular all through the '07 playoffs, by far the best performer. They gave the Smythe to Scott Neidermeier, I guess because he was the captain of the winning team.

Lets be fair. Alfie had no shot.
Prongers elbow was clearly the Conn Smythe winner in 07

Is it boring hockey to develop a system with the players you have that can not only get the team into the playoffs that a number of so called experts said would not make the playoffs? Is it boring hockey to also have that same strategy beat a Bruins team that supposedly had one of the best & hottest top lines going into the playoffs. Is it boring hockey to have a system & a team execute that system to perfection to beat one of the best goalies in the world & a Rangers team that arguably had the best four lines in the NHL? Is it boring hockey to have a system in place & a strategy to slow down the best offensive hockey players in the league & defending SC champions by executing the game plan once again to perfection?

Or is it just that the Ottawa coaching staff has outsmarted ever other team it has faced so far in the playoffs with an intelligent strategy to clog up the neutral zone & slow fast teams down. Then take advantage of turnovers with a very good transition game which has resulted in beating the so called better teams in consecutive series & is now leading the defending SC champs by winning game 1. Is it boring hockey or just outsmarting the opposition, executing a perfect game plan & taking advantage of turnovers with a fast transition game that offends opposition fans?

Even if it isn't always accurate, it feels so gratifying for this team for the first time in almost a decade to have an identity that frustrates opposing teams and fans because it results in wins for our group. I actually kind of like having the reputation as this working class, no talent (apart from EK), defensive door-bolt of a team. It's not entirely accurate but it's fun that it infuriates and boggles the mind of opponents/fans when it is happening.
The teams that don't have identities end up doing something stupid like scapegoating their second best player and dealing him for an older, inferior player on the decline.

Pens win the next 4, no problem.

Sens are boring, boring, boring, just like Bruce Willis and his crew in Michael Bay's action-adventure movie Armageddon.

Karlsson is a complete joke of a captain, with an overall captaincy ranking fitting in somewhere between Phaneuf and Kangaroo.

Turris is more like a fifth line centre than a first.

Alfredsson eats too many nacho chips.
