Montreal Canadiens Record: 28-19-1 (57 points) 3rd in Northeast, 7th in East, 14th in NHL
Leading Scorer: Alex Galchenyuk - 13 Goals, 33 Assists, 46 Points
Hamilton Bulldogs Record: 21-11-6 (48 points) 2nd in North, 6th in West, 10th in AHL
Leading Scorer: Nathan Beaulieu - 5 Goals, 25 Assists, 30 Points

The Canadiens are slightly behind, compared to where they were in the standings last year at the same time. New captain Alex Galchenyuk continues to lead the team in scoring like last year, but is not on pace for 100+ points.
Hamilton is also off to a slow start, but are expected to qualify for the postseason. With Louis Leblanc gone, defenceman Nathan Beaulieu has taken the lead in scoring. He currently leads all AHL defenders in points.

A couple of our guys have taken the start of the season for granted. We're not going to use Stanley Cup hangover as an excuse.
Detroit had to play 4 rounds as well, but they're off to a better start. I'm not going to rule out trades if we don't pick it up as a team.

Wild upset Blues in an intense seven game series
April 28th, 2013

images

Josh Harding was the definite MVP of this series posting 2 consecutive shutouts

Minnesota is having playoff fever right now, as the Minnesota Wild have advanced to second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in 10 years! The Wild were lead by rookie Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise in points with 6. Coyle also lead in goals with 3. Many critics expected goaltender Josh Harding to 'choke' in the playoffs since he played as a backup during the season. Harding ignored the critics and played extremely well posting a 1.63 GAA and a .950 save percentage.

Games 1 and 2 in St. Louis left the series tied 1-1 but as the games shifted back to Minnesota Josh Harding turned on the jets backstopping 1-0 and 4-0 wins. Games 5 and 6 both went in favor of St. Louis leading to a decisive Game 7. At the end of the 2nd Period, St. Louis was up 1-0 off a goal by Chris Stewart at 14:47. At 13:35 in the third, the Wild were on the powerplay and Zach Parise fed a perfect pass from left to right to Matt Cullen who netted one under the glove of Jaroslav Halak. With 5 minutes remaining, many started to think the game was headed to overtime. But Jason Blake thought otherwise and intercepted a pass from Jay Bouwmeester and skated alone to Halak and ripped one right through his 5-hole. The defense took over along with Josh Harding and gave the Wild the win.

Canucks cheer in ecstasy as Alex Burrows and the Sedin twins celebrate after scoring a goal on the St Louis Blues.

The 2013 Stanley Cup Finalists have been decided. It was a very tight series in the Western Conference Finals, but the Vancouver Canucks came out on top again. In six games they took down the St Louis Blues, winning the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl. They will play in the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in the past three years, this time against the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is the Penguins' third Cup Finals appearance in the last six years. They defeated the New York Islanders in five games to punch their ticket to Vancouver, who has home ice advantage.

Henrik Sedin leads the way with 19 points in 16 games. His brother Daniel has collected 14 points, while Ryan Kesler has 11 points, and both Chris Higgins and Jakub Voracek have 10 points.

Draft and Off-Season Report

Capitals draft Defender Daniel De Sousa 2nd Overall, other top 5 prospect

DeSousaDraft0120.JPG

Daniel is a big body and is slated as a Two-Way Defender.

We finished 2nd last in the League and Chicago finished last, and the Lottery stayed pat. Chicago got the 1st Overall Pick and we got the 2nd. We also had Minnesota's 1st Round Pick which ended up being the 5th Overall pick. Not bad in exchange for a 3rd line Scorer. We also had the Calgary Flames 1st Round Pick, which was 14th Overall. We also made 1 trade, shipping off Goalie Braden Holtby:

:flyers

Braden Holtby (28 Years Old, Backup Goalie, 83 Overall)

:caps

Philadelphia's 2017 1st Round Pick

We did this deal to unload his contract and he will most likely cap off at his current Overall.

Notable Selections
Number | Round | Position | Name | Age | Overall | Potential
2|1|RD|Daniel De Sousa|20|20|62

41|2|LW|Henrik Skroder|20|59|3 1/2
60|2|G|Joey Okposo|18|52|3 1/2

This wasn't a DEEP draft, and there wasn't many HIGH-END prospects, as the #1 pick was also 4 Stars, but there was some good depth picks.

Colorado's 2017 1st Round Pick

GM JaredCowenFan and his Capitals have yet to make farther than a 2nd Round appreance in the last 5 years and with this roster GM Jared has put together for this year, it should get it done. Head Coach has submitted the NHL roster for the season:

Filip Forsberg (82 Overall) - Patrice Bergeron (85 Overall) - Zack Kassian (84 Overall)

All You Need Is Torts?
Canucks Win Stanley Cup After Coaching Change in Offseason
738763-canucks-win.jpg

Alexander Edler, Alexandre Burrows, and the Sedin twins celebrate a goal in game five.

Last night in the city of Vancouver, there was a celebration instead of a riot.

The Canucks captured their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, defeating Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins in five games. Vancouver raced out to a 3-0 lead in the series, but lost game four by a score of 7-2. Fans were embarrassed but believed in their team and did not complain, as the loss gave them an opportunity to win the Cup on home ice. Pittsburgh came on strong when facing elimination, hoping for a rare comeback from being down 3-0 in a series, but the Canucks outmatched them in game five, winning 5-4 in one of the best Cup-deciding games of all time.

Game 1: 3-1 Canucks Win
Game 2: 4-1 Canucks Win
Game 3: 3-0 Canucks Win

Game 4: 7-2 Penguins Win
Game 5: 5-4 Canucks Win

No one can say that they saw the ending to this season coming for the Canucks. Back before the All-Star break they were below .500, and were never even above .500 until after the break. John Tortorella, who was hired by Vancouver last summer, had already been nominated for the Jack Adams award (best head coach), and after this Cup victory he is likely a shoe-in. This Canucks roster couldn't get things done under Alain Vigneault, but goofy ol' Torts seems to be just what they needed. The lineup didn't even change much from last season - only Jakub Voracek was brought in, and Roberto Luongo was shipped out. The decision to go with Cory Schneider in net seemed to be the most instrumental factor in the Canucks winning the Cup. Just after the final game ended, the 27 year old goalie was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for MVP of the playoffs. He played all 21 games for Vancouver, picking up all of the 16 required wins, and he never got pulled except for after the fifth goal of the Penguins' 7-2 thrashing. His final stat line was a GAA of 1.94, a save percentage of .936%, and he had five shutouts. In terms of offense, team captain Henrik Sedin led the way with 22 points in 21 games. His brother Daniel scored 18 points, Ryan Kesler scored 16 points, Chris Higgins had 15 points, and Jakub Voracek put up 14 points.

(This GM mode is incredibly ironic so far!)

Jack Campbell Era Begins in Dallas
:stars
October 4, 2016

The 2015-2016 Dallas Stars were unable to defend their second Stanley Cup in three years, falling to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Western Conference Finals in six games. After a surprise exit by coach Gordon Bombay following their Stanley Cup win last summer, GM themethod7 took a page from the Lou Lamoriello playbook by naming himself interim coach. GMTM7 led the Stars to the 4th seed in the Western Conference after having won the Presidents' Trophy two years running. Despite missing out on team trophies for the first time during TM7's tenure as GM, team captain Sidney Crosby took home the Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophies, while linemate Phil Kessel captured the Lady Byng.

While last year's roster remains largely intact, the Stars will have to make a few adjustments, the largest of which is the departure of Vezina and Hart winning goalie Cory Schneider. With the team already tight against the cap, the Stars were unable to meet Schneider's contract demands, with some reports suggesting a cap hit north of $9 million USD. With highly rated 4.5* prospect Jack Campbell ready for starting duty, the team let Schneider go to FA, where he signed in hockey hotbed Toronto with the Maple Leafs. The Stars also lost center Nazem Kadri to free agency, though the emergence of Sam Reinhart coupled with Dallas' depth down the middle should soften the blow. Defense remains the cornerstone of the Stars franchise, as they bring back all of their 85+ top-6 defensemen from last season.

With a still strong roster, Dallas places their hopes squarely on the shoulders of their young netminder as they seek to reclaim their 3rd Stanley Cup in 6 years.

Dallas Stars 2016-2017 Opening Day Lineup

Patrick Sharp (87) - 'C' Sidney Crosby (95) - 'A' Phil Kessel (88)

Capitals bring aboard Veteran Rene Bourque for Playoff Push

bourque940-8col.jpg

Rene may be 35, and in his later years, but he can kick with the best of them.

We didn't exactly need to make a move, at all really, as we're in a good spot but we wanted to add another piece on forward. Wether it be from bottom 6 to 2nd line we'd be fine with adding another piece, if the price was right. And we were happy with the deal that we put together:

:habs

David Booth (32 Years Old, 3rd Line CHK FWD, 80 Overall)
Brad Malone (27 Years Old, 4th Line FWD, 78 Overall)

:caps

Rene Bourque (35 Years Old, 2nd Line FWD, 83 Overall)
Chistopher Fish (23 Years Old, Other FWD, 67 Overall, 3 Stars)

Brad Malone hadn't played for a good couple months as his spot for overtaken by young rook Tom Wilson, as we have really liked his play and Rene Bourque will basically fill in for the roll David Booth was in. Bottom 6.

We're currently sitting 1st in the East with 84 points and 4th in the League. With a record of 38-21-8 (38-29). Ovechkin is 2nd in goals with 30 and Oscar Dansk is 2nd in Wins with 31.

Ovechkin and gang are poised for a long playoff run. Excited to be back in contention!

It was a solid year. One that will be in the back of our memories compared to all those disappointing ones. Everyone chipped in some way or another and we're proud of the boys. But now focusing on doing damage in the Post-Season.

We finished 1st in the East, 1st in the Southeast Division and 2nd in the League (Behind Phenoix). We finished with a record of 49-24-9 (49-33), 107 points.

Oscar Dansk had a good year, finishing 2nd in wins and 8th in GAA. Jonathan Toews was a good #1 Center finishing 3rd in assists and Ovechkin put up atleast 35 goals in each of his last 6 out of 7 seasons and hit the 1,000 point plateau his year! (1,030 in 963 GP).

I forgot to save my Predators GM so I was so screwed. I couldn't do that Schenn trade because of Kleins cap so it was Hornqvist, Yip, 2nd round pick 2017 and 2nd round pick 2017 for Luke Schenn and Shane Harper.

As most people know, I'm doing an expansion league. Well, With the folding draft, I taking all the players selected off their team and put them in free agency to avoid duplicate players. So, I put their overalls to 45's, 50's, and whatnot. Little did I know that it would also change the same players ratings on the expansion teams.

The brooms were brought out against Winnipeg

Alex Ovechkin and Mike Green celebrate after sweeping the Winnipeg Jets in 4 games.

It was an all-around dominant series. Are Goalie, Oscar Dansk played great, gave us a chance in every game. Our top line was firing on all cylinders and we got that crucial depth scoring. Are confidence is high as of right now.

Captain Alex Ovechkin lead the way with 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 4 games, while Jonathan Toews put up 5 points(1 goal, 4 assists), Nicklas Backstrom put up 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and Rookie Brian Calvert also put up 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist). Filip Forsberg and Vinny Lecavalier put up 3 points, respectively. Mike Green lead on Defence with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Oscar Dansk was a perfect 4-0 with a 1.14 GAA and sparkling .961 SV%.

8 long restful days later we're facing the 7th seeded Ottawa Senators. They finished with a record of 41-32-9, 91 points. In 4 meetings between us this season we split and went 2-2, by scores of: (2-1 L, 3-2 W, 6-5 W, 4-0 L). As always let's take a look at the Roster match-ups:

For my Seattle GM, this is how I avoided duplicates:

- When making the custom Seattle team, I filled it with fake players. (To save time, I used crappy guys from the Austrian national team.
- Then I moved the Phoenix players onto their new teams, replacing them with crap players, to assemble Seattle's starting roster.
- then I switched the new Phoenix roster with fake players on Seattle.
- the replaced Phoenix with Seattle.

I don't know if that would work for all the teams you have though.

Not so good year for my Nashville Predators, but i didn't expect much either cuz I just didn't have the team, I finished 13th in my conference. My other 1st round picks I got is from Edmonton, New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightnings. Edmonton finished 12th in the conference. And New Jersey last in there conference and also last in the league and Tampa finished 9th in there conference so we got a Top 2 and maybe a Top 5 pick at least. So a good draft I hope ;) :handclap: :naughty: And best in points for me was Evander Kane. 55 points, Kane was also my best goals and assist player for me. Most points in the league was Henrik Zetterberg (92) followed by Pavel Datsyuk (89) and tied for the 3rd was Claude Giroux and Daniel Sedin (both 88). Most assists was Joe Thornton (60) followed by Henrik Zetterberg (59) and Nicklas Backstrom (58). The best scorers was Alexander Ovechkin (50) who dominated in goals while Daniel Sedin (41) was 2nd one and tied for 3rd was the teammates Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin (both 39).

Wild make conference finals after sweeping Nashville 4-0
May 12, 2013

charlie_coyle_minnesota_032313.jpg

Charlie Coyle continues his outstanding postseason play with 9 points in 11 games

Only one more round Minnesota, for your Wild to play for the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history. The Wild dispatched the Predators easily sweeping them in 4 games. Josh Harding continued his excellent play allowing only 4 goals in 4 games, including another shutout. Game 1 went into overtime with the game tied at 2 a piece. Parise scored 13 minutes into overtime to give Minnesota the first of four straight wins. Josh Harding currently leads the NHL in GAA with a 1.40 and in Save Percentage with a .955. Niklas Backstrom has been cleared to play since Game 3 but coach Mike Yeo has kept Harding in as starter for his excellent play.
