I'm not too worried about Keith when it comes to age because it's not like he's a bruiser type defenseman. The upside of him not playing all that physical is that his body is going to last a lot longer. He's also probably the best player on the team at avoiding hits. As long as he steers clear of any significant knee injuries or the like, he should play well into his late 30's.

He also is an extremely fast skater who tends to make bonehead plays but then has a quick recovery time. If the boneheaded plays remain but the foot speed goes it could be trouble.

I would say Keith qualifies as a veteran (8th year NHL player) and he makes quite a few.

Well sure Seabrook's body and the way he plays the game he obviously is at more risk. I like Seabrook's contract much better than Keith's.

Seabrook's contract this year 7,000,000 and then the next 3 seasons it goes down $5,000,000 $5,000,000 $5,000,000. Seabrook is 27 years old. Seabrook will be 30 years old at his next contract.

Duncan Keith's contract this year at age 29 is 8,000,000 and then slight decreases age 30, $7,650,000 --age 31 $7,600,000, age 32 --$7,500,000, age 33 --$6,000,000, age 34 --$5,000,000, age 35--$4,500,000, age 36 --3.5m age 37 --2.65m, age 38 --2.1 mil and the last year age 39 1.5m he is signed through 2023.

I guess where things could go bad for the Blackhawks is when Keith turns 33 at that point will he be a #1 or #2 defenseman?
