Lol ok Dale. I tried to get McD, I tried to get Stone....he says after they are traded. Let me guess, your tried to draft Crosby and Ovechkin too. Are we really supposed to believe the old snake oil salesman? "I have a plan, just need more money."

Thank you, this is the most obvious reason. Whats left of the hardcore fans in Ottawa don't deserve to have their team made to look even more silly for the next three years by being pummeled by both Hoffman and Stone in the same division and on the same team.

Never thought of that. That's hilarious lol.

Panarin is better especially at something pretty important which is offensive zone entries. Players who excel in that area are worth their money.

GR says Serron Noel was one of the prospects Ottawa was asking for. Also speculates that Ottawa's asking price for us was 2 top prospects+ a 2nd + a conditional 1st

My guess was Tippett and Minnesota Second and someone like Malgin for Stone signed
That sounds reasonable, as I was thinking Tippett was probably the most likely prospect to be included. He's been decent in juniors, has some NHL experience, and yet isn't so much of a sure thing that Tallon wouldn't move him. So him, a higher round pick, maybe a back end pick, and someone like Malgin would have made a reasonable package.

Guess he better look at extending Hoff then to keep that scoring edge he's brought, and then look to shore up the D and goaltending this offseason. It's nice to think of adding Panarin, but if you really look at it, why would we need another top-6 guy? Everytime a top-6 type player gets signed and some player previously in the top 6 goes to the 3rd line and what should be predictablydoesn't produce as much offense with the reduced ice time, they get written off as a failure. So makes more sense to stick with a solid top 6 (which the Panthers have) and look for players who are good in the 3rd line role and won't be written off as disappointments (Vatrano pretty much fit this bill this season, but now is getting time on the top lines). Still have prospects coming up who may also fit into a top-6 role, so I think the team's really all set there.

Real problem is the defense - You've got Yandle and Ekblad, who are decent, but beyond that Matheson sees too much ice time and should be used as more of an offensive defenseman, Pysyk is over his head as anything other than a 7th man, and whereas McCoshen and Brown have been serviceable on the bottom pair, I'd like to see Pysyk gone and replaced with a really solid defensive specialist and probably someone a little more veteran to replace one of those on the bottom pair and also spell Matheson so he doesn't have to play in key defensive situations, since people here seem low on his abilities in that regard. I don't think he should be written off, but maybe scaled back and used on the 2nd PP.

Then goal...Luongo getting beat 3 times in that shootout last night.......he used to excel in those situations. Between him and Reimer, this team has lost far too many OT and shootout games this season for lack of goalies being able to stop shots. THEY HAVE TO GET A GOALIE WHO CAN ACTUALLY STOP THE PUCK. And I'm telling you, Tallon, sign this guy Stefanos Lekkas Hockey Stats and Profile at hockeydb.com and let him develop into a reliable backup and maybe even starter - he keeps getting better every year I've seen him in action and I really think he's got a future as an NHL goalie if given the shot.

That's just plain wrong. Pysyk was excellent on the third pairing in 2016. He'd be good again on a third pairing, he just can't handle second pairing minutes with Matheson.

Actually, we were in on McD. I had a friend working in the organization at the time and we apparently made a hard push.

Has Tallon ever paid fair market value or overpaid in trade? I can’t think any off the top of my head. He almost always makes a good trade that seems to be a good to great price.

He probably is thinking we have cash for free agency and isn’t going to overpay now. Trades can be made in the offseason too when Tallon can use our cap space to his advantage in a trade like he did with Campbell and Luo
