The problem with a guy like Shattenkirk is, on a worse defence (And he definitely will be joining a worse defence), he might get exposed in a bigger role. And of course he'll be badly overpaid.

At this point I would give my right arm to get Shattenkirk on the Flyers. Would absolutely love to see him with Provorov. Shattenkirk is top-4 on any team, and he'd easily be a top pairing D for us. Don't know what Dreger is drinking...

Dreger is an insider who spends more time on his phone and twitter than watching actual hockey. The info these guys get is often hearsay nor is their job to actually analyze or evaluate players.

I don't know why you guys take them so seriously. I also find it funny how highly-regarded Bob McKenzie's draft rankings are. Those are consensus rankings he gets from scouts on where he thinks players are going to go. Bob himself isn't exactly spending time watching a bunch of actual junior hockey and making scouting reports.

If I remember what Bob said (didn't listen to Dreger) - it was implied Shatternkirk would sometimes get 3rd pairing 5 on 5 minutes. And the Leafs wouldn't want him because he couldn't be a top pairing guy for them.
