Today, the NHL released the draft order for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. In a year where the next "God of Hockey" could be selected #1 overall, many teams were anxious to see where they were slotted. The first overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft goes to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Craig Patrick, Pittsburgh's General Manager, released this statement minutes ago.
"First off, we would like to thank the people of Raleigh, North Carolina for their hospitality throughout this draft weekend. With the first overall pick in the 2004 Entry Draft, the Pittsburgh Penguins select, from Dynamo Moscow of the Russian Super League, Alexander Ovechkin."
