Does a cup win this year make up for all the playoff failures for Washington?

I'm a Pens fan but I would slightly enjoy it if the Caps won the cup. I was a young kid when the Pens won the cups in the early 90's but I didn't truly get to enjoy it until 2009. Even though i don't like the caps, seeing OV, Backstrom and Holtby raise the cup would be nice as a fan of the game.

Why am I 100% certain you would not feel the same way if Pittsburgh didn't just have 3 recent Cup wins....

It probably would. A cup win changes things for sure, look at Steve Yzerman with Detroit. Same thing can be said for Ovie.

If they won, they could finally replace the statue of Hunter cheapshotting Turgeon with OV raising the Cup.

Lol, of course it does. A lot of players have come through the league and never win a cup. You can forgive a lot for a championship; we forgave a lot and we lost in G7

Probably, but it won't happen, Washington is the new St. Louis from the 90's to 2004.

And St. Louis was the new Washington (early 80’s through late 90’s).

As a longtime fan I can tell you without hesitation that Yes, it would wipe all the pain away.

a cup makes up for everything.
a cup stands for "you've done everything right the last 5 years"

One is infinitely better than zero, so yes. And I hope you guys can do it before Ovechkin retires.
