The New York Islanders today announced that Shane Doan was traded to Florida for package of prospects, 3rd round pick and Valeri Bure. When asked, why they would trade Shane Doan when they are so close to the stanley Cup, they responded by saying that they are not done yet and infact made a another trade pending approval which will ship out Valeri Bure for a pending UFA sniper.

We feel that our second line was not scoring much and although Shane Doan was really great for us, we needed a winger who could score much and we have accomplish that by the second trade.

They also annouced that they have signed Andy Sutton to 4 year deal worth $2MM a season but they have two pending UFA quality defenceman in Nathan Dempsey and Miller and are entertaining offers for them.
