I thought DVD was at the conference....

Derek Van Diest @SUNdvandiest
More of the same from Craig MacTavish who can't even remember how many years #Oilers have been out of playoffs. It's nine, not seven ...

Thomas Simpson @tsimpson76
@SUNdvandiest why not call him out? You have access!

Derek Van Diest @SUNdvandiest
.@tsimpson76 PR guys was in control of the press conference, wouldn't let me ask a question, yet allowed his propaganda minster to. #Oilers

Oh wow, that's even more damning.

Looks like DVD flew out AFTER the conference.

Is is really called "access" when you aren't allowed to ask questions. I find it hilarious that the Oilers can hold a press conference and some people can ask multiple questions but others can't even ask one.

Again, why even bother with this garbage.

Honestly, the tactics of this era of the Oilers is so unprofessional. Makes me sick being a fan of this team sometimes.

Disgusting. I'm not impressed.

When the team starts blacklisting media guys because they ask hard questions, it becomes time to question whether it is even worth being a die hard fan....or a fan in general.

Thanks for the info DaBomb.

Seeing some of the things unfold in Toronto and all the tension between players, management, and the media got me thinking about the Oilers situation and the local media here. Do you think the Oilers, particularly Oilers management, have it too easy with the local media? You would figure after all these years of losing and the same excuses from management year after year, they would be getting more heat from the media. But to me, it seems like the local media is afraid to push buttons, ask tough questions, and criticize the Oilers. For example, nobody questioning MacT's crazy assertion at yesterday's press conference that Nikitin is a top 4 dman. It seems to me that the media just lets alot of things slide here. It sure would be nice to see some of the media represent the fan base here and grill management with some tough questions and call them out. Am I being unreasonable thinking the media here is too 'management friendly'?

News paper editors learn that you get the best circulation when writing at a grade 5 level!

Enough said about most hockey fans!

If we gave the media type a simple 5 answer test on Mgmt; Roster turnover; Production.
They would all fail.

As for the tough (trite unimaginative description) questions!

Most fans are to short attention spaned to want to read that article!

You do realize most of TSN; CBC; Media chain people are MTL; TOR; CGY; VCR based.

Cassie Campbell wakes up every morning with her husband the Flames GM.
Yet she can personally attack Hall. (Unethical) attack to the point of convincing the short attention span oilers fans to want to get rid of the 16th best young winger in the modern era!

As MacT said STUPID!

Ferraro a Canuck Butt Kiss!
Attacks the oilers all the time.

That goalie from NYI/LAK who lives in CGY and Does Flames braod cast Calling RNH a 3rd line center.

14-15
P V P centers
not 1st/2nd shared by 2 centers
Crosby/Malkin; Backlund/Monohan
or 1st/2nd/3rd split between 3 centers
H. Sedin (34) 48 EVP
Toews (26) 46 EVP
Datsyuk (36) 41 EVP
O’rielly (24) 41 EVP
RNH (21) 41 EVP
Stepan (24) 40 EVP
Kopitar (27) 40 EVP
Bergeron (29) 39 EVP
Koivu (32) 33 EVP
Couturier (22) 29 EVP
Ennis (25) 28 EVP
Fisher (34) 28 EVP in 53gm 40 EVP Season pace.
Vermette (32) 22 EVP in 63gm in ARZ 28/29EVP season
Zajac (29) 16 EVP
3rd best P v P production center in the game!

Tough questions.
Here is one!

Why do the oilers fans listen to these morons!

The other tough question!
Why do people refer to MGMT last 9 years.
2 years EIG
06-06; 07-08
08-09 12-13
5 years Katz/Tambo
13-14 14-15
2 years Katz/MacT
It is embarrasing that these Grade5 level target audience oiler fans do not KNOW MacT is GM for less than 24 months!

A large portion of our fans have turned into Leafs Fans (Media Sheep)!

Yes. Though the fans are to blame for being easy on management. The fans sell out the games. And never do you hear a Fire Lowe or MacT chant at the games. The fans are afraid to call out management for their failures, and the media follow suit.

What the hell would a chant do? Most fans who are there because they bought season seats or tickets long ago have given up any hope a change will be made. May as well chant "Beetlejuice" three times for all good that will do.

It's called apathy...the most insidious disease. Rage and anger indicate a level of care I know I don't have anymore. Even with a new arena or the advance concert ticket access....don't know why I'm going to renew...guess because I'm a fricken moron.

The other fans who sit on their hands are thinking "man, I got this $#!+ for free" and they pay little attention to the game, disappear drinking for a period and leave early......if they even come at all...

a third type of fan who bought tickets for cost or face value and is soooooo happy to be at that game isn't going to boo or chant.

Who is left? A guy who buys $8 seats on kijiji for the SPECIFIC purpose of chanting or booing. Ain't never gonna be enough of those.

Remember, this franchise actually trotted out Pinocchio in the winter to blame the weather on the empty seats. Blinders and earplugs. That's what they use each and every day.

After paying your $150 bucks or whatever for a ticket you will be escorted out immediately if you try and do anything of the sort. You can't chant, you can't wear a bag, you can't have signs, you can't do a thing as a fan. A heck of a lot of seats are also corporate tax deductions.

How do you know if they are innacurate or unethical if the goddamned question hasn't even been asked?

Does each member of the media have to run their question by the Oiler PR machine before they can ask it?

Do the questions have to conform with the way this organization seems to run everything....that being into the ****ing ground?

I'm glad that you are a poster that has chosen a point of view and stuck with it through thick and thin, but to halt questioning from certain local media types has no excuses.

You're making excuses. And they just don't fly any longer.

there is asking questions and then there is picking fights. Just like everyone at home picking their nose and plucking their keyboards, risks are taken and not everything one says is a good idea. The upside, the core is intact, we have depth coming and the farm appears to be serving its purpose. The answers are the same as they were a year ago, 4 months ago, 2 months ago, and the presser. We have quite a few guys that management is standing behind until these guys find a way to shoot themselves in the foot. Ask the harshest question you want, the real answer is, "i'll do what I want and see you at the finish line" pout if you want but that's life. if you don't want to watch the games, I will gladly pay half price to watch the last half of the season.
