Seen a bunch of people say how the Art Ross is worth more than a rocket, how it is a secondary trophy in a way. People actually use OV's competition against him for the RR, saying how he only wins because there is no true challenger for the RR, so that's how he is piling up Rockets.

Is this true? It is almost like the McDavid syndrome where no one is on his level, so people might use lack of competition against him when he is done from hockey.

He has many Rocket Richard winning seasons that were far less valuable than the winner of the Art Ross, or like this year, 15/16, and 13/14, less valuable than the Top 3- 5 finishers in the Art Ross race.

But of course media bias could influence his lower Hart consideration in those years if we completely forget the media just voted him the Conn Smyhte.

Considering The Rocket is the trophy with least subjective awarding criteria that counts numerically easily countable, and objective core events happening on ice that are also immediate game play objective and requirement for winning in the game of hockey, it's sometimes hard to understand why the trophy is not held higher in esteem than it is.

A player being able to win even one will be remembered as a good goal scorer = good hockey player. A player being able to win seven (or more) will be considered as the Epitome of Goal Scoring, and automatically one of the all-time greats.

The Rocket is also most fittingly and best named NHL trophy. It's perk is also the fact that it can be shared between several players.

Rockets are in the Core of Ovi's so called legacy, hell yeah they mean a lot. More than various more subjectively awarded trophies.
